"I wasn’t in danger,” The other woman grumbled, withdrawing her bow behind her head and securing the string across her chest. “I was-” A pause. Tracking a troll for the sake of it? Yes. “-testing myself, I guess.”

“I wouldn’t know anything about that.”

“Oh,” Halldis frowned a little, more out of disappointment than annoyance. When she’d found the caravan’s usual camping spot empty, it was hard to tell whether she’d missed them, or if they simply hadn’t arrived yet. She’d hope the woman might have known one way or the other, but it seemed not.

She let out a sigh, and offered a small smile, “Well...sorry to bother. I suppose I’ll just come back later.”
