How long have you been wearing/ interested in mori?: Ever since August of last year

What you like about mori kei or Natural J-fashions?: I think its calming feeling and style of the fashion, my life is pretty hard so i wanted to join in a more calming and slow paced lifestyle while being fashionable and then i found Mori ^^

Favorite brands?: Goodwill, Old navy, SM2, Earth music & Ecology, LunPeng and Ehka Sopo :3

Short intro about you: I am in middle school with a pretty good group of friends, i like living in a slow and calming life that is both fun, i do not like being inside for way too long with my phone doomscrolling ^^; I like retro tech, hiking, coffee, traveling, digi cams, mp3 players, DIY, thrifting and playing my guitar. and my music taste is a whole mix of genres but i mainly go for Ichiko Aboa, Popoyan, Chocopurin, Aurora, Lamp, Yaelokre, and Hattus

How long have you been wearing/Interested in mori? Three years.

What do you like about Mori Kei? Mori Kei is so free and natural feeling, to me.  I can move around easily in an outfit and take walks in the countryside with ease.  I can be any body type or size or look to be able to wear the fashion.  Mori Kei is so adventuresome and yet peaceful and quiet, at times.  I feel it suits my personality very well.

Favorite brands or places to find Mori clothing: I love thrifting in second hand stores and friperies.  I mainly shop online on thrifting pages.  I find that the brand Gudrun Sjoden suits my tastes.

Short intro about you: I am inspired by being in nature and witnessing all it has to offer my senses.  I love joyous color and pattern, as well as texture.  I call my interpretation of Mori fashion “Folk Mori.”  I search online thrift stores for things that make my heart leap.  I surround myself with books and collect feathers, along with many other things, to decorate my nest, or home.  The main thing I want to do is to have fun with Mori clothing and lifestyle.

How long have you been wearing/interested in mori?: Longtime admirer, only started pointedly paying attention to it about three years ago? And only tried wearing it a bit over a year ago... I’m late to the party ^^;

What you like about Mori Kei or Natural J-Fashions: I love the flowy layers of frills and lace, and the colour schemes. I love that it can involve a lot of thrift shopping and reuse/modification of existing clothes, it’s a creative outlet that’s easy on the wallet.

Favorite Brands or Places to Find Mori Clothing: So far just the thrift store! I can’t personally warrant the extra expense of shopping for brands (or even off AliExpress) all the time, but that’s okay, thrifting is an adventure and I do know how to sew (though I need to get off my bum and actually do it!) :D

Short intro about you: I recently (two years ago) moved out east to be in the countryside, which I think really kicked my interest in mori into high gear! I work freelance, from home, so I really want to put more aspects of the lifestyle into play as well (and so my interests also heavily overlap with cottage//core). I’m married, currently no pets (cat passed away last summer), but we may be getting chickens this year, and hopefully will have a dog eventually :D

Anything Else? I personally also really like the photography aspect of fashion, so if I can’t also make the time for a few nice outdoor snaps I’ll rarely put in the effort of doing a whole outfit. But that makes me realize I need to understand “casual mori” a little better so I can easily wear it all the time without making an ordeal out of it :P

🌱 How long have you been wearing/interested in mori?: I discovered mori kei back in 2013/2014 I think and it was the first jfashion style I fell in love with and started to wear. I don’t wear the style as much nowadays (more of a mix of natural/vintage/otome/lolita) but I still love it a lot as it makes me feel so safe and nostalgic which is why I made this blog as a sort of safe and comfortable space to collect mori images and inspiration.

🌱 What you like about Mori Kei or Natural J-Fashions: Something about the style is so comforting and calming to me. I love the soft layers and textures and muted colours. I feel like I can use my mori coords to convey a story or a feeling and see them as works of wearable art. Mori kei evokes feelings of calm, magic and fairytales whilst also being down to earth and connected to nature. My love for mori goes beyond the clothes to a lifestyle as well. As a shy and introverted person I like the idea of living a simple, quiet and comfortable life.

🌱 Favorite Brands or Places to Find Mori Clothing: I am inspired by Japanese mori brands such as Wonder Rocket and SM2. I also love following Japanese vintage shops such as The Virgin Mary for inspiration. Almost all my own mori pieces have been found in charity shops and vintage shops. I think the idea of finding pieces that are unique and one of a kind are part of what makes mori kei such a magical style. I also like to hand sew and upcycle things when I can.

🌱 3 Favorite Mori/Natural pictures: I chose the top 3 street snaps to include in this post however it was so difficult to choose. The whole purpose of this blog is for me to keep mori pictures that inspire me so feel free to have a look through for mori fashion and lifestyle inspiration.

🌱 One or more Pictures of You: The two pictures of me after the street snaps are from a few years ago now but they are probably the two mori coords that I am most proud of.

🌱 Short intro about you: I feel like I don’t have much left to say but I recently graduated from studying Textile Design and my graduate project was heavily inspired by vintage, jfashion and mori kei. I also wrote a lot about mori kei in my final dissertation. My dream is to visit Japan one day!

Mori Community Introduction

How long have you been wearing mori or have been interested in mori?: I have been following the mori community online for about 4 years. I have worn mori off and on for about 3, but most of my coords are not quite mori.

What do you like about mori?: I like that it is inclusive to everyone, no matter the gender, race, age, or size. I love that it’s also affordable since a lot of mori pieces can be found at thrift stores. It also aligns with my crochet hobby and other parts of my lifestyle that are slow paced.

About you: I really like the idea of being a fall time mori. My outfits are normally fall colored with reds, oranges, and browns. I’m not sure if this is really mori or something close to it, but I am open for critique form the mori community so that I can learn. A big shout-out to @baaikha , @forestsandtea , @kesstiel , and @sapphicfawn. I’ve been quietly watching your social media presence for quite some time.

Outside of mori, I am a wife and mother of two children. I work as a nuclear engineering technician with a focus on quality assurance. (I can’t wear dresses to work.) I love anything fall related, thrift shopping, crocheting, journaling, and serving at church.

• How long have you been interested/wearing in mori? I’ve loved the look since I started seeing it online around 2009-2010. I started wearing the style soon after once I realized I had many peices in my wardrobe that could be considered mori kei already.

• What you like about Mori Kei or Natural J-Fashions: I love that the rules are less restrictive than other J-Fashion and it’s more accessible for me. I love the layered look and the combinations of texture and patterns and colors.

• Favorite Brands or Places to Find Mori Clothing: To be honest, I haven’t bought myself clothing in several years due to my financial situation. What I do have, I bought many years ago from thrift stores or yard sales or it was given to me.

• Short Intro About You: I am a married mother of 2 grown children. I have depression, anxiety, and attention deficit disorder. My hobbies include drawing, reading, hiking, making things (and the type of things depends on the mood I’m in), and occasionally writing poetry and short stories. I live in the rural southern US and am also an eclectic witch.

• Anything else? I really enjoy mori kei and all of its sub genres. I love cottagecore, naturecore, and a ton of other cores. They all seem to fit together in a beautiful fantastic way that makes me feel a sense of peace and calm. Keep shining on, you wonderful deers!💕

I’d love to bring this idea back and get to know newer (and older) members of the community. So, let’s bring back this fun idea! How long have you been wearing/interested in mori?: I have been wearing mori for around 8 years now, I think. I’ve kind of lost count. Maybe 9?

What you like about Mori Kei or Natural J-Fashions: I love the comfortable and fairy-tale like look of mori fashion. It’s always captivated me and makes me feel so at peace and myself when I wear it. My love for it hasn’t faded once since I decided to start wearing it.

Favorite Brands or Places to Find Mori Clothing: I thrift almost all of my clothes and I love finding unique pre-owned pieces to create my own unique style! I also love Wonder Rocket pieces, but since the brand has since closed, I doubt I’ll ever be able to own anything from the brand :(

How long have you been wearing/interested in mori?: I’ve been interested in mori fashion since around 2009. I’ve been wearing some iteration of it since probably 2011.

What you like about Mori Kei or Natural J-Fashions: I like that the clothes are comfortable and don’t accentuate my figure. I feel uncomfortable in tight clothing both physically and emotionally. I like that I can have this little way of living my fantasy life on even the most basic or stressful days. I also like that the community is very open and the “rules” are more like guidelines. I was very interested in Lolita fashion as a teenager but felt too much pressure to create the perfect outfit for fear of getting ripped apart on the internet. However Lolita fashion is what led me to discover mori, so I am grateful towards it.

Favorite Brands or Places to Find Mori Clothing: Thrifting or making them myself! I like the eco friendly and wallet friendly aspects of thrifting. But sewing allows me the freedom to make something that is exactly how I imagine it and I know it will fit me.

One or more Pictures of You:  Here are two recent outfit snaps from my IG stories.

Short intro about you: I own a farm and work from home as a stay at home “wife”, farmer, and social media person (not going to say influencer lol). I love spending time with my animals and boyfriend, cooking new recipes, sewing and other crafts, and my general homesteading duties which include but are not limited to; shoveling poo, taking care of plants and animals, picking fruits and vegetables, food preservation, minor (sometimes major) home repair, cheesemaking, making herbal products.... the list could go on forever. I feel kind of like an official mori-grandma at this point but I like to think that my age and long time interest in the fashion adds to my aesthetic. I am shy but always hoping to make a friend here or there. 

Anything Else?: I’m in love with #cottagecore movement. It aligns with my lifestyle so perfectly. I wish it had existed 10 years ago! If you think that we might be friends or are interested in similar things send me a message. I love to chat online.
