I'm reading one of the best MorMor fics ever, and it's really fucking long, and goes through years of their relationship, and all the subtle ways that Jim opens up more over time, and I have like 4.5 chapters left and am already crying over how beautiful and sad it is. AHHH. Anticipating how it's going to end and preparing myself. Why are so many of my ships so fecking sad omg. And then I'm hilarious myself cause all the angsty Sherlock-verse fics I write are angsty as fuck, and looking at them from an outside perspective it's like...damn. I really went for that, didn't I.
Jim stood up, facing the wall. Boredom he felt was overwhelming. He started to walk around, making the most annoyed sounds.
“This is exactly why I hate going on holidays with you.”
“Shut up, Seb!” he shouted. Small body with dark groomed hair collapsed to the chair.
“It’s not a “holiday” if it takes four fucking years, Moran!,”
Okay but what if Sherlock is actually right when he said he ruined whole Moriarty's web?
Imagine sad Jim because he never told Seb he’s faking His death and the day before he comes back to life to surprise him he finds out Sherlock has already killed him.
Guys, I’d love some reviews on some work I’ve done.
So, if you like MorMor and/or Doctor who. You’re in for a treat. I’d really love some reviews on some work I’ve done.
Specifically the DW stuff as I am considering making the idea into a series but I want to know if people would actually like it or not and the reviews would be greatly appreciated!!
If you could also review my MorMor stuff that would be sweet as no one has really sad if they like it or not.

18 year old Jamie Moriarty loses her sight to cancer and is forced to go to therapy classes to learn to be a functional blind person. She meets ex-colonel Moran there because he's the teacher. This is his first civilian class. He teaches her to hone her other senses and she falls in love with the sound of his voice and the smell of his cologne and the feel of his hand gripping hers. She cries on their first time because every feeling and every sound is so intense. He holds her after and she kisses over his face and feels over his scars, asking about each one.
Seven hour rp below. It was too long for the server to process lol.
Jamie breaks up with Seb because their family situation is too difficult and then she hires him a long time later.
You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You both like unilock, Mormor, teenlock, parentlock, and femlock.
You: Sebby, did you finish dinner with your parents? JM (16, f.)
Stranger: We just finished. SM(18)
You: Are you busy now? JM
Stranger: Nope, why? SM
You: I want to see you. JM
Stranger: You want me to come over? SM
You: My da didn't go out tonight... he's passed out but I don't want him catching us. JM
Can we meet in the park? JM
Stranger: Of course. I'll meet you there in ten minutes? SM
You: Sure. JM
Stranger: See you soon. SM
You: Jamie snuck out past her drunk father--who was doing a shit job of guarding the door, which was his intention--and out to the park that she and Seb usually met. Straightening her hoodie, she walked to Seb at their usual bench and sat next to him.
Stranger: Sebastian didn't have to sneak out of his house, but he didn't tell his parents where he was going. Soon, he was sitting at the bench and waiting for Jamie. "Hey, Jamie." He said when she sat next to him.
You: She gave a little smile and leaned her head on his shoulder. "Hi, tiger..." she murmured. "How was your dinner? Delicious and posh, I assume? How are the Morans?"
Stranger: Seb smiled and rested their heads together. "It was alright. Pretty posh but the food was good altogether." He chuckled. "Everyone's fine, I suppose. Mum's still drinking a lot."
You: "Mhm... well, alcohol tends to make things a bit more fun...distorts reality... we know that a bit as well..." She shrugged. "Are they still looking into future fiancees for you?"
Stranger: He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and nodded. "I know, but drunk people aren't fun when you're not drunk too." He shrugged. "I managed to fight it off for now."
You: "You're damn right about that," she chuckled. "Staggering is always more hilarious when you're on the floor as well..." She was quiet for a long while. "I think...you should marry one of them."
Stranger: "Yes, it is." He nods. "It just looks ridiculous and stupid when you're sober." He frowned and turned his head to look at her properly. "Run that by me again, love?"
You: She just continued looking forward at the dark moonlit park. "We...aren't going anywhere, I think. I mean, as far as us having an actual future. I know your parents are insane and eighteen's young to get married, but...you should marry one of them when the time does come."
Stranger: He frowned more. Was this Jamie's cryptic way of breaking up with him? "Well, the time hasn't come, and I don't like any of the girls they're trying to force on me right now. I mean.. I'm not saying we have to get married either. You're right, eighteen is young for thinking about this."
You: She nodded a bit, sighing and leaning into him a bit more. "I'm not breaking up with you, just so you know," she told him. "But I want you to know I'm not trying to trap you. I'd never try to trap you..." She spoke quietly, looking down at her hands in her lap.
Stranger: He tightened his arm around Jamie, relieved she wasn't dumping him. "I know you'd not do that." He said, pressing his lips to her temple. "We're too young to be thinking about it seriously. My family is just insane."
You: "The point is for you to meet girls who are marrying material, not so they can have you married before Uni." She straightened up away from him a bit. "I'm going to miss you a lot when you go... It'll be tortuous, darling..."
You: torturous*
Stranger: "Well, they should leave it to me to find a girl I'm interested in." Sebastian ran a hand through his hair. "I'll miss you too. But we can make it work. I'll come visit during the weekends.. We can call one another."
You: "I'm sure they'll be fine if you find a nice Oxford blue-blood," she told him. "Not an impoverished little Irish girl." She sighed and then gave a little, humorless laugh. "It sure seems like work, doesn't it?" she asked, turning her head toward him. "If we break up now, it might be easier for all of us. Your parents would be thrilled and you can do lots of Uni things and party and fuck around without being tied down."
Stranger: "Too bad I'm not interested in an Oxford blue-blood." He took her hand and squeezed it. "I'm interested in this little Irish girl." He sighed and frowned. "It is a bit of work, but I'm willing to make it work if you are. All those uni things are just stupid anyway." He glanced away. "But if you want to break up, I suppose I can't force you to be with me.."
You: She took a breath and pulled her hand back. "I want to break up," she said, swallowing thickly. "I don't want this to go any further and I don't want there to be any higher of a level of commitment to this."
Stranger: Sebastian took a deep breath and nodded, keeping his gaze away from the girl. "Right." He said, stuffing his hands in his pockets and feeling his chest ache. "I suppose it's for the best, then."
You: "I think it is," she said, voice barely a whisper. "You understand, right? In ten years, you can't possibly see us together, right? I don't fit into the picture of the wife that welcomes you home or... or... the mother of your children... You understand, don't you?" she rambled, taking a breath and looking at him.
Stranger: "I don't know." Sebastian mumbled, keeping his eyes trained on the moon. "I never wanted kids, anyway. That's another thing that my parents hate." He ran a hand through his hair. "But I guess that I understand."
You: "You might, one day. With the right person... It's good you understand. Really good," she muttered. "This never should've happened in the first place. We were dumb to think it was a good idea to even fool around like this," she said, nodding like she was trying to convince herself as well. "The fact that we always had to sneak around was pretty big of an indicator..."
Stranger: "I don't like kids, Jamie. They're loud and frustrating and they don't listen.." He'd always hated kids, but it wasn't going to change anything. "The sneaking around was just an indicator that our families are indane." He sighed, though. He knew that he couldn't change Jamie's mind once she had it set on something. So now he was just dealing with the awkward aftermath.
You: "You're silly. Kids aren't horrible monsters," she said, something odd in her tone. "They grow up... Maybe that's just one more thing that makes us incompatible, right
You: ? The kids situation?" She bit her lip. "Our families are insane. Yours would insist you kick me to the curb and my da would try to weasel money out of you."
Stranger: "No, they're just cranky and mad for the first 10 years of their life." Sebastian sighed and dropped his gaze to the ground. "I guess, maybe. And I've never listened to my family. I won't be living with them for much longer, so I won't have to deal with their unstoppable want to control my life."
You: "Lord Moran won't let his eldest son split just like that," she said. "Paying for your Uni and your flat and having monthly dinners... leaving won't make them stop controlling your life." Her throat felt dry and her stomach was turning. "It's not a bad life you're headed toward, at any rate..."
Stranger: "He's going to have to. Because once I'm done with uni, I'm joining the army." Sebastian sighed. "Not a bad one, but it's not the life that I want, either." He felt sick to his stomach and his heart felt like a giant had squeezed it tight.
You: "You'll do well," she nodded. "Well, what sort of life do you want? What do you see successful military Seb doing in his thirties?"
Stranger: Sebastian sighed. "I don't know, lo-- Jamie." He said, glancing at her before looking away. "I don't have much planned after uni and the army."
You: Jamie felt her eyes begin to water a bit at his near slip-up. "Well, the military is a career... Maybe you'll do lots of travelling. It sounds like something you'd do... You always talked about how stuffy it is here."
Stranger: "Maybe.." Sebastian said, nodding a bit. "I suppose so. But I guess for right now I just need to focus on.." He sighed. "Getting into uni and passing my classes before I think about anything else."
You: "Planning ahead is hard. You're guaranteed uni, and I'm positive you'll pass... but it doesn't make thinking ahead any easier.." She nodded, sitting a bit in the silence and leaning back on the bench, looking up at the sky. ."I...don't know why I'm still here, honestly," she said finally, voice cracking. "You can leave if you want... I'm not sure why I'm just...staying here." She wiped at her eyes.
Stranger: "It is hard, trying to plan ahead. " Sebastian nodded and sighed again. When her voice cracked and he saw her wipe his eyes, he wanted to wrap his arms around her, tell her everything was going to be fine. But he couldn't just do that anymore. "I don't know why I haven't left either..." He whispered, closing his eyes for a moment to stop them from watering.
You: She felt more tears escape and she took a deep inhale through her mouth to avoid sniffling. "Change is hard," she whispered. "I hate that I can't control the things I want to and that...certain situations can change things and there's no way of going back to normal."
Stranger: He wiped the back of his hand against his eyes, taking a deep, shuddery breath. "Yeah, change is hard." He muttered, pulling his jacket closer to himself and pursing his lips. "It really fucking sucks..."
You: She tried not to focus on how sad he sounded. It was hard enough and it was just getting worse and more unbearable by the second... but sitting here with him still felt preferable to anything else, really. "Everything turns out alright eventually, right?" she asked. It was a genuine question, not like the others where she was just looking for confirmation.
Stranger: Sebastian couldn't bring himself to look at Jamie as he considered her question. "That's what our parents are supposed to tell us." He settled on. "But I suppose there's no way to know if things will turn out alright or not. We just have to hope that we're making the right decision."
You: "Do you think this is the right decision?" she asked, wiping her eyes up and looking at him. "Because I thought it would make me feel relieved to stop holding you down..."
Stranger: He sighed and wiped his eyes again. "I don't know." He whispered. "I think it's the easier decision. It's easier for us to break it off now.. But it hurts too much to be the right one."
You: "I know it can't hurt forever..." She bit her lip, frustrated with its stupid quivering. "And it'll just hurt worse if we continued... but I can't imagine it being worse than this... it doesn't feel easy. It can't be easier if it doesn't feel easy."
Stranger: Sebastian's hands started shaking a bit. "I know it can't but it feels like it will." He still can't look at her directly. "It doesn't feel easy, you're right. It's so hard... But it's supposed to make things easier."
You: She closed her eyes, nodding. "Y-yeah... It is. It's supposed to make it easier." Her throat felt like it was threatening to close up. "It feels like it'll make thing easier? I honestly don't know what I feel about it... I-I can't even feel my legs."
Stranger: He forced his eyes not to water, his voice not to quiver. "I don't know. I just know how I'm supposed to feel... I-I can't force myself to think right." He said, wanting to kick something, but wanting to burst into tears at the same time.
You: A sob broke through her clenched teeth. "Just tell me this is going to make it better for you. That'll be enough." She swallowed thickly, suddenly hating the perfect looking night. It should be raining or something should be on fire or something... It couldn't be this calm out.
Stranger: He clasped his hands together so he wouldn't reach out to pull her to him. "I can't promise you that it will make things better. I can't." He whispered, shaking his head ever so slightly, a couple of tears finally escaping from his eyes.
You: She laughed humorlessly, it sounding like sobs more than anything. "You're supposed to lie to me, Seb," she muttered. She shook her head, wiping at her face some more.
Stranger: "I don't want to lie to you. I couldn't if I wanted to." He said, dropping his gaze to the ground as he wiped at his eyes and cheeks. He was shaking slightly, from holding in his sobs.
You: She nodded, swallowing again. "This is a stupid night, isn't it?" she asked bitterly. "It's like we're just sitting her sad for nothing, the way the weather is tonight..." Under different circumstances, they'd be snogging messily on this kind of night. "Fucking terrible night..."
Stranger: Sebastian sighed and looked out at the night. It should be raining. The weather should match how miserable they felt. This was the kind of weather they reserved for snogging and being happy. "Fucking awful." He laughed humorlessly.
You: "I'm sorry I ruined such a lovely evening," she said, wiping at her eyes again. God, would the tears ever stop? "You're probably already on edge from the dinner and I...I had to go and ruin the rest of the night..."
Stranger: He sighed and shook his head. "It's fine. I mean..." He muttered, wiping the tears off his cheeks and blinking to clear his vision. "You were just doing what you thought best, Jamie."
You: "It is for the best," she said, trying to convince herself more than anything. "Everything's too complicated to just keep going..."
Stranger: He didn't say anything, just stared at the ground and sighed quietly. His family was insane, and Jamie was the only thing that kept him happy and normal.
You: "You don't believe me," she said, eyebrows furrowing. "You said it was what I thought was best..."
Stranger: He sighed. "You were the one that brought it up, that's all I meant." He said, clenching his fists in his pockets.
You: "You've never thought of it? How much easier it is this way?" she asked softly, looking down in her lap.
Stranger: "I didn't want to think about it." He said. "It was harder before. But I was happy and I thought you were too."
You: "I was happy," she said quickly, her eyes tearing up again and her throat constricting again. "I was never happier..."
Stranger: He took a breath and sighed, closing his eyes tight. "But things are easier like this." He finished for her.
You: "They will be," she said. "They have to be... Don't you think it will be?" She looked at him. "It'll be easier. You can find someone you can bring around the family...and...and you don't have to feel like you have to sneak around..."
Stranger: His throat constricted. "Logically, I guess." He said. "Logically, I know that they will be easier. They have to be..." He kept his eyes closed in hopes to keep in the tears that had suddenly showed up again.
You: She wasn't convinced he felt the way he said. She wasn't either. "Logically..." she repeated. "Logically, if something feels this wrong, it must be, right?"
Stranger: He stuffed his hands in his pockets and took a deep breath. "Right." He said, knowing it wouldn't make any difference. This is the way it was now.
You: "Being together never felt this wrong.. it felt wrong but never this wrong..." She sighed, shaking her head. "We can't be friends after this, can we? I wouldn't think so..."
Stranger: So not only were they breaking up, but she was suggesting that they basically lose contact. Sebastian felt sick. He should have just stayed home. "I don't know."
You: "It'll be hard if we do, right?" she asked. "Will it be hard for you?" She gulped, feeling the sobs building again.
Stranger: "It's hard for me right now, Jamie." He muttered, biting his lip and turning away from her a bit.
You: "I'm sorry," she murmured. "I am...so sorry..." She looked away as well. "I-I think I can feel my legs again," she lied, forcing herself up. "I'm sorry." Her breathing quickened a bit as she tried to force herself away. "We should be friends. That would be okay."
Stranger: He again remained silent, looking down at his lap with watery eyes and teeth clenched shut to keep in any sobs that rose up. He should've stayed home. He should've done something before now to make things better before it got to this point.
You: Her heart beat quickly as she walked. Home wasn't particularly somewhere she wanted to go, but she'd just ruined it up with her escape. Maybe she could sneak a bottle of booze from her father. He was probably going to be out until morning.
You: (I'm not sure what you'd like to do after this like if you'd like them to fix it, but I was kinda thinking of doing a time skip where Jamie contacts Colonel Moran to work for her?)
Stranger: ((Ohh, that sounds interesting :) ))
You: (Did you want to do a backstory for his discharge or do you want me to just start the contact?)
Stranger: ((I can do a backstory if you like))
You: (Okay :) )
Stranger: Sebastian went through uni and joined the army. He was there for a long time, though none of the higher officers liked him as he was far too smart mouthed. It had been ages since he last talked to Jamie, and he stilled tired to not think about her. The Colonel had just been discharged, honorably of course. They said it was because he was depressed, and a danger to himself, but he knew he wasn't and it was just them getting rid of him because they didn't like his attitude.
You: Jamie went on her own path, leaving her father's house soon after the breakup and disappearing to London. She was smart enough to get on without schooling, and really, what she went into didn't need a degree. What started as being a dealer and a 'pet' to one of the most powerful drug lords became something much larger. She killed the man, taking control of the reasonably sized operation, and expanded. She put herself at the top of multiple operations, anonymously of course, and she offered advice. She was known as M and she was the world's only consulting criminal. It was boring. Everything was boring, and she was lonely... The only thing to bring her a spark of something was the side column of the paper. Decorated Colonel Moran was discharged. /Her/ Colonel Moran... Perhaps it was time to see him again. After all, he did say he didn't plan anything past the Army...
Colonel Moran, is it? Recently discharged, what a shame... M
Stranger: Sebastian hadn't expected anyone to contact him. He was recently returned to London, trying to find a flat and adamantly ignoring his family. He didn't realise that the 'M' that contacted him was Jamie.
That would be me, yes. Can't say it's a shame, though. SM
You: Not a shame? Why not? No living arrangements...no new occupation. How is that not a shame? M
Stranger: The army was getting boring. Needed to move onto something else. SM
You: Any ideas? M
Stranger: I've only been in London for two days. SM
Stranger: Not yet. SM
You: I've got an idea. JM
You: M*
Stranger: Oh? SM
You: How closely do you follow the law? M
Stranger: If ever, you mean? SM
You: You're as lovely as I thought you'd be. M
You: Are you interested in continuing your sniper career? M
Stranger: Thanks, I think. SM
I suppose so, yes. SM
You: No questions? M
Stranger: Obviously I'd like to know what exactly I'll be doing. SM
You: You'll be a sniper for me. M
You haven't any attachments? No wife? Kids? JM
Stranger: No attachments. Not even a girlfriend. SM
You: Good. M
Stranger: In case you're wondering, I've no serious injuries from the army either. SM
A bit of a scar across my face but nothing that will stop me from doing whatever job you give me. SM
You: I've read your medical records. M
I'll send a car to bring you to the office if you'll like more information on the job. M
Stranger: Managed to get ahold of my records? Clever. SM
That sounds like a good idea, yes. SM
You: Black car. There's a lovely lady in the back seat and she doesn't like to be kept waiting. If you think hard enough, I'm sure you'll find you knew that. M
Stranger: Very cryptic. Is it here already? SM
You: Yes. M
Stranger: Sebastian headed out of a building, he was renting a room from an old army buddy, and spotted the black car. He slid into the car and turned to look at the woman who had been waiting.
You: "The scar doesn't ruin your handsome face, Sebby... It actually looks pretty nice. Manly," Jamie said as he turned to her. Perhaps that wasn't the best first thing to say after over ten years, but her heart pounded in her chest and reminiscent teenage memories blurred her brain.
Stranger: When it sunk in who he was sitting in a car with, Sebastian felt a forgotten but now familiar ache in his chest and his throat closed up for a moment. "Jesus fucking christ." He whispered, staring at Jamie in disbelief. She could not have found him and offered him a job. Not after ten years of nearly never speaking.
You: "Jamie, actually, but I'd understand if you forgot..." she murmured, looking him over. "How have you been?"
Stranger: "I might be impossible to forget." He briefly considered getting out of the car and finding another job. There had been too much heartbreak before. But he didn't leave. "Besides getting too close to a Serbian with a whip?" He indicated to the scar. "Fine, I suppose."
You: She nodded. She was wrong when she'd convinced herself that it was completely fine after all that time. She was wrong all those years ago...the break up never was better. It never started feeling better. "That's good.. You've been mostly fine..." She told the driver to start to Conduit Street. "So, you'll be taking the job, then?"
Stranger: Sebastian had to lie to Jamie. All their history and he couldn't tell her that he had been miserable the entire time he was in uni and the army. He rarely didn't feel that hurt. It was always there, and it caused him to distrust everyone he met. "Yeah, I'll be taking the job."
You: "Good," she said, smiling. "That's good. You were the best sniper in her Majesty's armed forces. I'd say you're defecting, but it's their fault they let you go." Her heart beat wildly in her chest. "I'll be providing housing and anything you'll be needing, so...let me know..." She smiled softly, looking away as soon as they made eye contact.
Stranger: "I was good at what I did, yes." Sebastian nodded at Jamie's offer and almost returned her smile but turned to look out the window just after their eyes met. It seemed nothing had changed since they were teenagers and couldn't look each other in the eye after the breakup. "I'll let you know if I need aything."
You: "Good," she said, feeling stupid as she couldn't think of something to say to make it more comfortable. "The flat is in my building. Right across. It's furnished and everything...But if you need alternate living arrangements, a budget can be provided for that."
Stranger: Sebastian nodded. A flat right across from Jamie's. More opportunities to run into her. His heart lurched. He couldn't believe this. "No, that sounds fine." He said, shaking his head and waving a hand ."No alternate living arrangement needed."
You: She felt a bit of relief at that. She wasn't sure if she wanted to fix it or even if she could, but seeing him more often felt like a bonus. "We'll start you with the gun model you last worked with. Customization and additional weaponry will be figured out with someone else..." She looked over at him. "It's nice to see you again."
Stranger: Sebastian hummed. "Do you need me to tell you what it was, my gun model that is, or did you get my /that/ from my records too?" He asked, the teasing easily slipping from his mouth. He glanced away again and sighed, looking out the window. "It's nice to see you too, Jamie.."
You: "Records," she chimed, chin lifting up a bit proudly. It was easy for her now, but being around him made her feel so much younger again, like the distraught teen who found comfort in a handsome posh boy. "It's been over ten years... We should be able to stand to look at each other..."
Stranger: "Of course." Sebastian said, smiling fondly. Sure, being around Jamie again brought back the old feelings, the good and bad, but it was still hard to be around her. "One would think so." He said, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. "But it seems not."
You: She nodded, picking at her perfectly manicured nails. "We're just childish that way..." She shook her head. "Well, we're here. I'll show you up and you can spend the rest of the day setting up. We'll meet later for contracts and such?" she asked.
Stranger: Sebastian personally thought it was more that the old wounds had reopened. "I suppose." He muttered, then nodded and looked at the building. "Of course. Just text me whenever you'd like to meet to talk about contracts and the like."
You: She gave him the keys to the flat across from hers on the top floor. It was her building, so the bottom levels were operations and the top was just her and him. She'd thought a long while of what to do. Usually in that situation, she'd take her new sniper somewhere fancy to wine and dine. But he was completely on board with the new occupation. The dining would be the least preferable: he looked like he could hardly even stand to be in the same car with her.
(7:15 PM) Contracts all drawn. My door's open. JM
Stranger: Sebastian took the keys and followed her up to the top floor. Then he headed into the flat and looked around, exploring his new home. It was nice, clean and large, all open spaces and all new appliances and furnishing. Jamie really went all out for this, then. He wondered if she did this for all her employees or if it was just him.
I'll be over in a mo. SM
He had just gotten out of the shower (It was the first time he could shower as long as he wanted without someone else needing the loo) and gotten dressed when Jamie texted him. He didn't bother to style his hair, or even put on something overly nice. But he headed over to Jamie's flat a moment later and pushed the door open. "'lo?"
You: Jamie walked out of her office, still in her work clothes as she waved him in and sat him across from her. "Sebastian," she nodded. She laid contracts in front of him. "Legal documentation means quite little in this business, seeing as everything is not legal, but I like the formality of it... let you know what exactly will be expected of you and what kind of thing will happen if you don't fulfill such requirements... Sniper job..straight forward. Your pay varies by job, but it's quite nice, especially considering your living arrangement. Each client has different requests... You're still proficient in hand-to-hand should you need it, right?"
Stranger: Sebastian sat across from Jamie, this time able to meet her gaze. He had spent most of the day prepping for this meeting. "Of course you like the formality of contracts and the like." He said, nodding as his eyes scanned the first page that he saw. "It all sounds pretty standard to me. Varying pay, different jobs for different reasons, though I'm sure I don't need to be informed of the reasons." He nodded. Hand to hand fighting was something he did with his army buddies to keep in shape when they weren't actively fighting. "Of course I am. More than average, I'd bet."
You: "Of course," she said, passing a pen over the sturdy mahogany desk. "There are gym and training facilities in the basement of the building and there's a guy you can contact to schedule shooting sessions..." She felt unprofessional at the way she looked over his face and shoulders. A lot has changed, obviously.
Stranger: "That sounds fantastic. I'll have to get a hold of that guy soon. I'd love to get my hands on a gun again." Sebastian took the pen and flipped through the contract. He scribbled a bit on the corner of the paper to make sure that the pen worked before signing in the spots that he was required to sign. He could feel Jamie's eyes on him and he forced himself not to have a reaction, other than a slight smile as he slid the contacts back to her.
You: She smiled, standing and holding her hand out for him to shake. "Welcome to the company."
Stranger: Sebastian stood and took her hand, squeezing it as he shook it. "Right, thanks."
You: She held it a bit longer than she should, loving the feel of his hand over hers, the warmth and the solid feel... Letting go smoothly, she reached into her desk to pull out a brand new phone and a hand gun. "These are yours to keep... As I said, my arms man will be in touch. This is just to hold you over."
Stranger: Sebastian sighed when Jamie let go of his hand. "It'll work until I get a hold of a more exciting gun." He said, picking up the gun and looking over it, smoothly sticking it in the waistband of his jeans and sliding the phone into his pocket. He took a deep breath and looked at the woman. "It's good to see you, Jamie. I missed you."
You: "I missed you too, Seb," she said with a small smile. "You haven't eaten yet, have you? I was just about to order something if you'd like to eat." The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them, and she couldn't say she regretted it as much as she should've. "You haven't got anything at yours yet."
Stranger: Sebastian smiled a little and ran a hand through his hair, pushing it away from his face. He sucked in a breath when Jamie asked if he had eaten. He shook his head. "No, I haven't eaten yet." He murmured, sticking his hands in his pockets. "Food sounds good, though."
You: "Mm. What do you want to eat? I get delivery from..anywhere, actually." She smiled a bit when he'd agreed.
Stranger: "I don't care." He waved a hand a bit and shook his head. "Whatever you'd like to get is fine."
You: "Italian? Do you still like Italian sausage lasagna?" she asked, reaching for her phone.
Stranger: "Of course I do." Sebastian smiled, almost not believing Jamie remembered he liked it.
You: She began walking around the large desk as she dialed. "Good, good," she murmured, gesturing for him to follow as she led him to the kitchen and sat him at the kitchen table. She ordered and put her phone down. "Drink?"
Stranger: Sebastian followed her into the kitchen as she dialed the phone. "What do you have?" He asked, sitting at the table and giving her a little smile, though he was a bit anxious to just be around her still.
You: "Red wine, Irish whisky..." she said, looking in the cabinet. "White, vodka, and scotch." She looked over expectantly as her hand inched towards the glasses.
Stranger: Sebastian hummed. "Scotch. Please." He said, leaning forward a bit to look at the woman. She looked the same, but yet so much had changed as well.
You: She poured him the scotch and sat across from him with her own vodka. "Same as before, then? I think this is the same year as the one we nicked from your da... the one we got drunk off and I--" The words came easily out, but it wasn't appropriate to reminisce. It wasn't that sort of thing, right? "Well, anyway. This is a good batch. Lovely."
Stranger: "The one we got drunk off and you jumped into my pool fully clothed because it seemed 'fun'? I remember." Sebastian smiled as he looked down at the glass of scotch. "Did you specifically look for this year?" He murmured looking up at her with a little chuckle. Even if it was a bit painful, it was still nice to reminisce.
You: "Maybe I did," she chuckled. "It was a good batch, I said... I almost drowned and you took care of me. That...was a good weekend." The weekend she'd lost her virginity to him... She hardly drank scotch. Only that year.
Stranger: "It was a good batch." He agreed softly, looking down into the glass as he remembered that weekend. It had been one of the best with her. One where they didn't have to worry about getting caught together. "It was... It was a great weekend."
You: She took a sip of her drink and smiled into the glass. "We really had some great times, didn't we? Most of which occurred when your family went on vacation and you stayed back to 'study'... You sure had a lot of 'group projects' that year..." She let out a chuckle and shook her head.
Stranger: Sebastian took a sip of the scotch and sighed softly. "We really did. Makes me wish my family had gone on vacation more." He said, nodding as he looked back up at her and chuckled. "Yes, I sure did a lot of 'studying' then." He said, part of him wanting to just take her hand.
You: "Sad year for academics even though we 'studied' everywhere and at every opportunity..." She shook her head. "Horny teenagers that we were, we really made up some crazy excuses. It makes me wonder how many of them our parents believed." His parents, mostly. Her da dealt with his own issues so poorly that it hardly mattered where she'd go as long as Seb wasn't ever seen.
Stranger: Sebastian chuckled. "I think all teenagers are horny teenagers." He barely stopped himself from saying some pet name. It was too easy to fall into the way they had been before. "Well, I'd ask but I haven't spoken to my parents in ages." He took a sip of the scotch, sighing nostalgically. He really missed a lot of what they had been like.
You: "You haven't?" she asked, sipping a bit for herself. "Falling out or just ignoring them?" She looked at him, head tilting a bit.
Stranger: "Been ignoring them since I joined the army." Seb said, shrugging. "They're insane and I didn't feel like dealing with it anymore."
You: "Mhm.. And no contact with the siblings, either?" she asked. She understood where he came from. She completely severed ties with her family when she was seventeen.
Stranger: "Nope. I told them to only contact me if someone was dying." Sebastian said, taking another sip of the scotch. "And no one has died yet so it works out."
You: She nodded. "Well, that's an alright set-up, I suppose..." The way his family life was now made her feel stupid for breaking up with him all those years ago. Sure, she was on top of London now, but if they'd stuck out those years in Uni, they'd have probably been able to stay together for the whole time... "So, just the military for all that time? You joined straight out of Uni like you said you would?"
Stranger: "Yeah, I suppose it is." Sebastian nodded. "I was going to take a year off of uni, but.." he shrugged. "I didn't really have a reason to stay in London so I joined eight months earlier than expected and was immediately shipped out to training." Maybe, if they had stayed together, he would have had a reason to stay in London. But that was a ridiculous thought.
You: "Right... You climbed rank quickly. Quite a feat for someone as young as you." At least that helped her conscience rest a bit, knowing he went on to be successful after her. They'd both been pretty banged up afterwards, and she hadn't completely healed up from it. Maybe he had...
Stranger: "I needed something to do." He said simply. He had been hurting a lot from the breakup and climbing rank was a distraction. He was still hurting, honestly. And his new distraction wasn't a distraction at all, but a reminder of the hurt.
You: She heard the double meaning in his voice and it confused her. Perhaps she'd misread it. She took another little sip. "I know the feeling," she said. "Busy is really the best way to be, though, right?"
Stranger: Sebastian nodded. Busy was the best way to be when one was so banged up. "I think so, yes." He said, taking a sip of his own drink. It really had been a good year. Made him wish he had his own bottle of it.
You: She wasn't usually one for having more than just one drink before dinner, but the amber liquid was starting to look more pleasant than she'd originally thought. Maybe she'd indulge herself after the food... She finished up her vodka and went to get them two glasses of water. "It's been fourteen years since we've been in contact. That's...a while."
Stranger: When the water was set next to his glass of scotch, Sebastian finished off the alcohol with a sigh. "It's far longer than I expected." He admitted, remembering Jamie's tearful 'We should be friends. That would be okay.' But they hadn't spoken after that.
You: "Yeah... so much longer," she said, feeling a pang at her own memory of the goodbye...the hardest part was remembering Sebastian crying, her strong tiger. "I thought we'd be friends," she told him. "I wasn't completely wrong, I suppose... we could be something like friends now."
Stranger: Sebastian looked down, knowing Jamie was remembering his own tears. It made him feel weak now, and it still hurt. "Something like friends." He repeated. not sure what it meant, not sure if it would be worth it, if more pain came with it.
You: "Yeah..." she said. "We're adults now. We can manage civility and this," she said, gesturing between them. "--isn't as hard as it would have been. We're speaking. That's a start."
Stranger: Speaking, reminiscent about the past. It's what adults do. Adults who are friends. "Of course we can manage that." He said. "It's.. It's been too long." Even if he had gotten over the breakup, he'd still miss his best friend.
You: "Way too long. I should've gotten in touch earlier." Of course, that was just a polite thing to say... as long as it seemed like his life was in place, she was keeping her distance. Even if he wasn't doing well, she'd probably have stayed away for stupid reasons. "We were always pretty good drinking buddies... I take it your tolerance has only grown with time?"
Stranger: Sebastian nodded. "Drinking was one of the only interesting things to do when I wasn't fighting. You wouldn't believe my tolerance now." He said, giving her a little smile, as if he were trying to prove that he could make this friendship thing work.
You: "I'm afraid I haven't been practicing as much as you, then," she chuckled. "I am still Irish, though. So, maybe I can keep up. Just remember you've got a good four or five stone on me." She sipped at the water, momentarily admiring the smile--not completely genuine but it was getting there.
Stranger: "Being Irish automatically means you'll handle your booze?" Seb snorts fondly. "Isn't that racism?" Love. There it was, unsaid but tagged onto the end of his sentence. Again. "Are you suggesting a drinking contest?"
You: She giggled a bit. "No, Seb. Not racism, fact." She looked at him with mock seriousness. "You know I can handle my booze, and I come from a long line of steady-handed alcoholics." She shook her head. "I'd never suggest a drinking contest with you. You're much too much larger than me for it to be even resembling fair."
Stranger: Sebastian gave a chuckle and nodded. "Well, you've always been tiny." He said, shaking his head fondly. "I think that's the reason you gave the last time I suggested we drink a lot more than usual."
You: "You used to be lankier," she pointed out in a weak attempt at a counter. "And I believe my exact reasoning was that 'I'm just over five feet and still under-aged to be drinking. Winning is too easy for you' And then I accused you of trying to take advantage of me. Not the best reason because of our frequent under-aged drinking and my taking advantage of you... but it held up."
Stranger: Sebastian nodded and let out his first real laugh in a long time. It was quieter, soft and brief, but it was still there. "You're still just under five feet. Jamie... And it was not the best reason because of our under age taking advantage of one another, come to think of it. Or rather, underage if you asked either of our parents. "
You: "Ugh, parents," she teased with a giggle, taking on the attitude of sixteen year old Jamie. "God, don't bring up parents when we're talking about that stuff. If I ever run into my da, I swear on my life that I'm still a virgin."
Stranger: Sebastian laughed again. "I think your da might try to kill me if he found out that I was the person that took your virginity." He snorted a bit and took a drink of the water. "Not that he has a chance against me."
You: "No way. He's too much of a coward. I bet if he found out back then, he'd probably have just tossed me over to you like a sack of potatoes because you were loaded." She shook her head, smile still tugging on her lips.
Stranger: "Not that I'd have minded. I'd have just figured out how to sneak you into my house without my parents knowing. Taken care of you." He smiled and ran a hand through his hair, brushing it over his scar as he dropped it.
You: "Taken care of me? I'm not a hamster or something," she laughed, shaking her head. "Though I'm so sure nobody would've noticed. You ate double helpings of everything, anyway. What's one more for the road?"
Stranger: "You were as small as a hamster." He laughed in return. "I had to carbo load, with all the fighting I was doing then." He said, chuckling and shaking his head a bit.
You: "You were a rascal. What did I ever see in you? I was such a good girl..." she said, sighing dramatically for emphasis. "Muscles and those blue eyes must've done me in." It made her laugh even more at how it had turned out...him the military colonel and her the queen of crime.
Stranger: "Oh, done you in too well." He said, chuckling softly. "You turned into a bad girl pretty quickly, it seems." He smiled at her and sighed softly, leaning forward. Jamie had asked him what he thought he was going to do after he left the army. This isn't what he expected, but it seemed like it was going to be good for him.
You: "Well, what can I say? I never do anything half-way." She found herself leaning forward as well. "Too well, I'd say, but then I'd be crediting you for all this." Which wouldn't be all that inaccurate in a way...
Stranger: "I know you don't. The biggest perfectionist I know is you." He sighed, finding himself lost in memories again. "I only deserve half the credit. For starting the transformation to badgirl." He teased.
You: "I'll give you that much," she allowed. "I almost became an astronomer. How boring would that be?" She shrugged. Maybe they'd have been some odd military family by now, who knew... "But after I met you, I had an overwhelming desire to get a second ear piercing and a pink streak in my hair," she teased, rolling her eyes.
"Um... hey, I guess. I-I just thought I could drop by or something. B-But don't worry! No one is tailing me. I checked and double checked and triple checked. Anyway, I... I guess you can say I missed you and just wanted to..." A choked cough. "to see you again." A forced laugh. "You would mock me for this... sentiment. You'd tell me it's "idiotic and useless". But... now that I can talk, you know, freely, I-I guess I should remind you how you were always so... protective of me. You used to say it was because I was the best of your snipers, but we both know that's not quite true. I-" A deep breath. "I can't believe you did this. I... I just- Why?!" It came out louder than it should have, so he lowered his voice. "I know that for you it's all about the game, but... at least you could've warned me! Told me what I was supposed to expect! I... I almost screwed the last job you gave me, Boss. I wanted to burn my gun, all of my guns, punch that bastard Holmes in the face. I-I don't know what to do. I- All of my new employers are stupid bitches, and I... I... Oh, shit, Jim! I miss you so fucking much, you bastard! I-I'm sorry. I'll go now. I guess... I should say... Goodbye, Boss." The Tiger wiped his angry tears. He gazed at the only gravestone in the enormous field. It was quite fancy thanks to his boss's impressive amount of money, but it lacked any sort of decoration, seeing that its only visitor disliked flowers.
