My latest work in progress. 

Morowa Ihejirika is a ruthless bad-ass with the power to manipulate fear and stimuli. She can do something as little as give you nightmares for a week, or if you really piss her off, she’ll have you crying in fear, kneeling at her feet. 

When she’s not being cool, she’s studying her magic to learn even more ways to make you beg for her forgiveness or tinkering herself a new, better arm after she lost one in an accident.

My Inquisitor Morowa aka A Western Approach in the Western Approach

Hi Jane!!! Are you excited about Dragon Age 4? I can only imagine how cool the Tevinter Aesthetic would look in your art style!

Hell yes! But while I’m excited to see where Bioware takes their story, I’m also trying to keep a level head and not let myself dive too deep or get too emotionally invested before they’ve actually put out a product. So I’ve been replaying Inquisition with Morowa and channelling my energy and excitement in that direction instead. I’ve tried my hand at Tevinter style before for this post, but I wanted to dress Dorian and Morowa in some Inquisition-era Tevinter-chic clothing this time around.

So I was browsing through Alistair’s tag (Becca I love him, but who doesn’t), and I saw that him and I saw your post about him and Morowa getting along like two peas in a pod. I was just curious about what what their dynamic would be like?

Morowa loves herself a jokester and a goofball and Alistair is both. In DAO, Alistair is snarky, sarcastic, and facetious. Alistair’s brand of humour–pretending to put on airs, mimicking voices, and hijacking otherwise serious conversations by dialling up the absurdity of his responses (e.g., offering to show the Warden “a couple of interesting-looking moles” when asked one too many personal questions)–makes him Morowa’s dream conversationalist.

I imagine they’d have a rapport where Morowa would “yes, and…” his experiences, supporting and buying into whatever Alistair says in that moment while contributing additional details (e.g., “It was difficult being home-schooled by a pack of dogs, you know, but now Alistair can bark fluently in three languages”) to disquieted strangers. I think they’d make a bizarre albeit fun duo.

But I don’t think those qualities of Alistair’s are necessarily on grand display in DAI like they were in DAO… which leads me to yet another Dragon Age AU with Morowa as Grey Warden.

How would Morowa get along with the other DAO companions if she was the Grey Warden?

I think she would get along VERY well with Leliana ASKLDGJKALSDJG Details below a read-more.

Alistair: As I’ve discussed here, I think Morowa would enjoy Alistair’s friendship and company. 

Dog: Morowa’s not particularly “a dog person” as Inquisitor because I really love the idea that other nations view the dog-loving Fereldans as rather quaint if not bizarre. As a Trevelyan with a coat of arms bearing a horse and as a Free Marcher where the Grand Tourney is the uniting force behind all Marcher city-states, Canon!Morowa prizes horses above all other domesticated creatures. I don’t think Morowa would refuse the companionship of any animal, but I just don’t think Dog would be her favourite. 

Leliana: I think Morowa would get along better with DAO Leliana than DAI Leliana. Leliana has a great sense of humour–like when you mistake her flirtation for compliments–and, like Alistair, can be entertaining with anecdotes and stories of her past. She’s also (again like Alistair) an incorrigible gossip, which Morowa always appreciates in a companion. Although Morowa is not as pro-Chantry as Leliana, she’d be supportive of Leliana’s vision, her ideals, and the way her faith guides her to acts of compassion and charity. 

Morrigan: Morowa would be slow to warm to Morrigan and thus slow to realise Morrigan is not the vile fiend Alistair or Leliana think she is. I think they would disagree on a good deal of things largely because Morowa does not mind helping people who are in need when she is in a position to help. 

Oghren: Bree had more patience for Oghren than Morowa ever could. She would not be a fan of his lechery or drunkenness! Hard pass!

Sten: I’m not sure! I think Morowa has a strong sense of self that would earn Sten’s respect. I also think she is 100% ready to meet him in the pit to show her mettle. I’m not sure that she would particularly understand him, but I don’t think she would push him away or not recruit him.

Wynne: Wynne would be too preachy and didactic for Morowa, despite Morowa’s desire to help others. That being said, Wynne would be the compassionate, competent, and magical person who would make Morowa think twice not only about the plight of mages under Templar care, but also the degree to which mages are an actual threat to civilians. 

Zevran: Morowa loves her rogues and she would love Zevran’s panache, self-confidence, and delightful sarcasm. If Morowa doesn’t romance Leliana, she’d romance Zevran.

Do Morowa and Bree have any guilty pleasures? I assume Bodran never feels guilty about anything :p

(Thank you for assuming that about Bodran as you’re correct. He doesn’t feel a great deal of guilt about anything that gives him pleasure.)

Morowa enjoys what she would consider “froufrou” live entertainment like the Orlesian Opera. I qualify this as a “guilty pleasure” because Morowa has tried to build a reputation that is hard-working, down-to-earth, and (for lack of a better term) anti-aristocratic. She shrugs off the pomp of her title despite Vivienne’s protests: she’s usually covered in dirt and muck from the road, wearing the quality of clothes that any one of her soldiers might wear, and associates herself with riffraff because riffraff are her kind of people. However, she’s an absolute sucker for the gaudy extravagance of entertainment like the Orlesian Opera. 

Bree openly enjoys reading fairy tale, fantasy, and fiction. She is even outspoken in her love of romance in books (e.g., think the likes of Ingeborg & Frithiof, Tristan & Isolde, Romeo & Juliet, Astia & Nebbunar, Siegfried & Kriemhild, Lancelot & Guinevere, etc.). Her “guilty pleasure” is that she enjoys literature of a sort that surpasses Cassandra’s ‘smutty literature’ in directness and bawdiness. There is a point where the plot simply gets in the way and those are the sorts of books that Bree would rather keep to herself.
