And how they unlived happily ever after.

I’ve always enjoyed it when a game leaves its ending open enough to keep the story alive long after the credits roll. This piece is set after the events of Dragon Age: Veilguard, in my own little “what comes next” space.

In my version of the story, Agatha lives out her full mortal life with Emmrich and eventually pursues lichdom. Not to escape death, but to remain closer to it, keeping watch over her beloved home, the Grand Necropolis. And to make the ending a little more sappy (there’s enough loss in real life, so let me have this), she also gets to spend eternity with the man she loves.

And finally, Agatha has all the time in the world for her corpse beetle collection. 🪲

Tonight I played the Mortalitassi specialization quest for Dragon Age Inquisition because I'm finally like putting the time in to do like as much as I can, rather than rushing through like I did when I first played the game.

So y'all can probably tell if you read my fanfiction that I am obsessed with Nevarra, the Mortalitassi, and the Mourn Watch. I'm fascinated to the max by a fictional culture.

I was so excited about the quest tonight I started stimming. In nerdy good news when I stim its like the finger tutting they do in The Magicians.

Friends, it is literally nerd all the way down.

Mourn Watcher origin thoughts:

-Born of a Pentaghast or other noble trying to escape the Nevarran Purge. Parent tries to hide in Grand Necropolis, much like how Cassandra was brought in by her uncle. Only something goes wrong and they hide the baby before they're cut down. Although 9:10 dragon would make for a bit of an older Rook character.

-long lost child of Johanna Hezenkoss. Unwanted, discarded, or hunted down, a friend or colleague tries escape the depths from whence she tried to get rid of it. Fails, but the child is found. Younger Rook option, potential for content with emmerich's quest.

- treasure hunters digging through an abandoned tomb for goods to steal, unearths an entity that hunts them down and kills them, but not before they hide the child in a coffin, telling them it's a game and not to come out. Hungry and scared, the child finally wanders until discovered by a patrol of Watchers. Any age Rook. Potential side quest to find the entity.

The Name:

-adoptive parent's name

-name given to every child found in the necropolis (there aren't many but it gives them a shared history)

-name of wealthy patron who's money still to this day is dedicated to caring for orphans of the Necropolis, they are given this surname in the patron's honor.

-name of the tomb they were found in.

-real name, if the child was old enough
