Getting Ready

@focusdumbass very kindly sent me prompts from this post: http://desperatlytryingtowriteabook.tumblr.com/post/177405712354/drabbles-send-me-characters-and-a-prompt and this is the first answer.

Zip Me: I went with the NaNo characters, to play with them a bit already.

“Hurry up, Aunt Sovelia will never forgive me if we’re late.”

“Relax. We promised we’d be on our best behaviour.”

Thyia glared at her partner. “Being on your best behaviour includes not being late.”

“Does it?” With a wink at his reflection, Leucos turned from the mirror and to Thyia, wrapping his arms around her waist.

“It does. What did your parents teach you?”

Leucos quirked his mouth, thinking. “Not much. And definitely not Archipel protocol.”

“Just get ready,” Thyia said with a sigh, playfully pushing Leucos away. Her family wasn’t fond of her partners and always used the smallest misstep as evidence that they were the worst people on earth and that Thyia should have nothing to do with them. She had no wish to prove them right.

“You’re pretty.” Morwenna rested her head on Thyia’s shoulder, pressing a kiss behind her ear.

“I’m not even dressed yet. This fastens in the back and…” She held out another sigh.

“Let me.”

Morwenna’s fingers grazed against her skin as she tightened the lacings of Thyia’s dress.

“There,” she whispered in her ear, picking one more kiss on the lobe.

Thyia turned around and twined her arms around Morwenna’s neck, softly kissing her lips.

“Now, I’m jealous.”

Leucos, fully dressed – finally – was watching them from a few feet away, a smile hovering on his lips.

“Don’t be.” Thyia dragged him closer and silenced his meek protests with a kiss, Morwenna laughing as she picked a peck on Leucos’ cheek.
