We are back to the land of Rieslings today with a Spätlese which means late harvest in English. This Mosel Valley wine from Weingut Nikolaus Köwerich @weingut.nikolaus.koewerich called Für Träumer und Helden contains more residual sugar, 83 g/l to be precise. It has a lighter golden color with some lemon hue and a high viscosity. The nose has a medium plus intensity with aromas of lemonpeel, oranges, apricot, mango, golden apple, pineapple, honeysuckle and white blossom flowers. As from the sugar content, this wine is medium sweet with a high acidity, low alcohol (only 8,5%) and a medium body with flavours of honey, mango, pineapple, lemon and orange. A very pleasant long finish on the palate. A refreshing very good quality wine, drinks well in the next 5-10 years too (it's the vintage 2018) and it is best when chilled to 8-10°C. Perfect on its own or with creamy cheeses and not overly sweet desserts.
