Against the Storm
I've been really enjoying my time with Against the Storm. It's a rouge like city builder / strategy game set in a deep fantasy universe where dangerous rainfall is a constant threat. The game uses the term 'Rainpunk', which, is a word I think the devs made up.
If you like creative city builders, I'd check this one out.
Sable opened her eyes. She was on Phantom’s bed. Phantom was asleep that was surprising.
She hopped off heading to the organ. She didn’t entirely know how long she’d been dormant but it clearly wasn’t just a few hours. Sable climbed up the bench and onto the keys beginning to play.
Lamina was oddly silent in their head. They were there Sable thought, just not talking. They were usually always talking when Sable fronted.
(“Phantom got worse…”)
Sable felt the same pang of grief she thought she had shoved down far enough to not let it show.
(“I’m pretty sure they’re dying but Lace won’t confirm it, she just doesn’t want to hurt my feelings or something”)
(“And Mirr, my sister visited… she didn’t have a good time here”)
(“And I think the wraiths are attacking people…”)
Sable felt the same overwhelming pressure in her mind that she first felt when she was with Gatherer. The urge to run, to hide, to vanish. But she couldn’t not this time.
Sable got off the organ deciding she could hide for at least a little bit, not forever just a little.
lamina no. i would care i would care i would care :(
Lamina did not respond
(“They wouldn’t care… they’re lying, why would they care? You’re nothing but a replacement”)
Sable began to sob.
Sable is not used to being outside without an older bug watching her. She is older than Lamina, given that it is still a mossgrub while she feels more like a mossmir. She can remember flying around moss grotto gathering moss berries for the grubs. She can remember riding on Bappies back when her wings got tired. She cannot remember being a grub. But none of it was real. None of it. Lamina's voice in her head keeps her from spiraling ("There is silk in Greymoor but if we go get it the wraiths will take all of it when we go through the mists to get back") "We'll stay wherever we are then" ("Bilewater")
"Mmmm... nevermind"
Sable started to head distinctly right and up, right again left. ("Wait... I know these roots, kind of, they're a little shriveled but they kind of look like Briar") Sable poked one, it did not look tasty and would also be weird to eat given it was probably the same stuff their sibling was made of. She turned back. Going up and starting to climb a sheer rock cliff.

Mossgrub...
I have heard of some tragedies that have occured on your life.
If you require any comfort, I can try to provide it...
(Ooc: forgetting Phantom is in the Organ and mossgrub is wherever mossgrub is for à second they are in dire need of a hug and headpats)
“…that sounds nice… but I don’t know if I’d want to stay there all the time. But you were very kind and your sister was very yummy”
Grub crawled forth into a place luscious and green with moss everywhere but something felt… wrong
It could hear crying past a tangle of brush
They walked past immediately struck by the blue glow they did not like the blue glow with butterflies everywhere
But the shape was still crying
She looked like a mossmir except instead of their wings being the sort of pale white-ish yellow they were light purple
“I miss her… so much…”
“Who are you?” Grub said approaching the mossmir
“…I don’t know”
Grub awoke with a start staring around they could still feel the mossmirs presence there but it couldn’t see her anymore
“…I don’t know”
You are just a replacement, you are.
And when you grow up there will be another you who is less of a failure than you are now
Maybe it would be best if you just left and stopped disappointing and burdening everyone
Lamina buried their face into the moss,
Once Lace came back
Once Lace came back they could leave and stop being such a bother.
No that’d be too cruel to Lace to leave her to deal with Phantom alone
Once Phantom gets better then or when-
They didn’t let themself finish that thought
