I redrew some of my old WEBTOON characters, Eli and his mother, Veronica! 🫢 so I have a complicated relationship with my old comic, since I cut it off early because I just… couldn’t handle the pressure. I had schoolwork and a social life I had to keep track of, so after about a year of creating the WEBTOON Pride Eyes, I stopped. It stopped suddenly, which I regret. I also regret never finishing the story, which wasn’t very well written in the first place. I also regret letting down 1,000 people who had subscribed and showed me unwavering support throughout my comic journey. Even throughout the drastic art style changes, frequent hiatuses (either due to sickness or family), and a sudden dropping of the comic, people still showed me support. I really appreciated all of the fanart and emails I received from readers, and I want people to know that while my WEBTOON author experience was short lived, it was necessary for me to grow, and to learn more about how I want to handle future art careers. But as much as I loved my comic and it’s characters, I’m glad I stopped producing it. After a year of producing a comic, it began to feel like a chore rather than a hobby, which is what I wanted it to be. It wasn’t supposed to be serious, or a job, but each weekend I went to draw, I felt tired and stressed. The deadlines felt shorter and shorter, especially in the school year. Either way, I still have a personal connection to this comic. I put a lot of my love and care and experiences in it, and I don’t regret ever making it. All of my readers were incredible, and I am honored to have had any fan base at all. Thank you to any old readers, and thank you to non-readers who are supporting my art today. I feel like I’ve grown thanks to all of you, and you keep me coming back to art. And maybe one day I can make a career of it. :) -golden quiver
