The Moth Maiden, a faerie tale.
Long ago, there was a maiden born to poor farmers who was due to be married. Though she had the skill to sew, she had not any fine fabrics and the truth was that her ability was novice at best. Her family could not afford to pay for the dresses in the fancy dress shop in town. One night while she sat brooding on her poor fortune at the windowsill to her bedroom, she noticed a cluster of moths flitting about a lantern on the porch below. At once she recalled a tale she had heard from her grandmother when she was a little girl that spoke of a faerie muse of weavers, the Moth Maiden.
As it goes, a seamstress such as her could make an offering of fine cloth to the moths by leaving a scarf out at night upon their window. If it was accepted, the faerie herself would visit and share her inspiration and skill for a price. She could not recall what that price was, but knew she was desperate enough to not be so humiliated that it did not matter. Setting her most precious scarf upon the window, she slept with the hope of a visit from the Moth Maiden. Several nights went by, the girl's desperation growing with the filling of the moon.
She awoke one evening from a strange dream to a voice as light and gentle as silk. Standing at the side of her bed was the faerie seamstress! The girl nearly screamed in fright, for she had not been told that the Moth Maiden quite literally seemed as a thin woman crossed with a moth. Her pale body seemed to glow in the beams of moonlight that filtered in. The faerie held a thin finger to her lips in a shushing gesture, locking eyes with the girl with large black eyes of her own that seemed to glitter like gemstones."I will help you, but you must follow my instructions carefully." the Moth Maiden told her.
She could simply nod in reply, not knowing if being quiet was already part of the instructions. Moths of all kinds began to crowd into the room, attracted around the faerie woman. "You must only sew at night when there is moonlight. Any simple linen will transform into a silk more fine than any mere worm of this world could make. You will know what to do, and when the dress is done and your wedding over you will allow my children to eat it." The girl eagerly agreed, thinking this a very fine and easy price.
The Moth Maiden reached out to the girl, a bright green luna moth alighting from fingertip to her nose. The faerie woman blew a gentle breath and the girl fell asleep again. The following nights the girl worked with a fervor and skill to rival the greatest and most inspired of weavers, fabricating a dress of such splendour she chose to hide it until the moment of her wedding and thinking of a clever tale to hide the true origin of it. Her wedding came and passed in the coming months, and she was happy as all brides may be in her new home.
One night, she came to her room to discover a horde of moths flitting about her room. Alarmed, and not wishing to give up such a fine dress that she had made with her own hands, she took a broom in hand and swatted the pests out of her room. As she was cleaning up the mess there came a shrill scream from the field outside. The girl ran to her window, filled with dread, and gasped with hand to mouth at the sight outside. There in the field stood the Moth Maiden, her delicate features twisted into a terrifying visage.
Her voice seemed to echo with an unnatural power as she spoke "How dare you! For your insolence, I shall take every scrap of linen you have!". The air grew heavy as moths seemed to stream from the wheat, the bushes, and every shrub. They swarmed into every open window and crack through the home devouring every piece of cloth in sight including clothes being worn with a fearsome speed. When all was done they left as quickly as they came, returning to their faerie maiden and seemingly disappearing into thin air.
The girl's husband, thinking to avenge this foul deed, rushed out of the home with iron blade in hand. Before he could reach the faerie, a strange black moth with lurid green and yellow patterns alighted upon his shoulder. The man froze on the spot and was dead in an instant. Her vengeance sated the Moth Maiden gazed upon the girl one last time, who crumpled to the floor in a heap. When the poor widow looked out once more, the faerie was gone.

Hello muffin!! I have a MoTH writing request! can you pretty please make a scenario of Maiden and Phantom having a sort of father daughter bonding session? They can do anything I just want to see them spending time together💛💜
Good times with Rover
—————
As Phantom sat in the Doll room drinking a cup of tea, Maiden rubbed Rover’s belly.
Maiden: “So, the Creator gave you this dog for no reason?”
Phantom: “No explaination, nothing I did to prompt a reward, just one day, he was given to me.”
Maiden: “Strange. Do you think this could be a test, to see how good you are with caring with pets?”
Phantom: “Possibly.”
Maiden: “Either way, you’re doing a pretty good job! Rover here seems pretty happy.” She said as the dog happily licked her face.
Just then, Phantom finished his cup of tea and grabbed a mini cake. Rover noticed this and stared sniffing the cake, trying to take a bite.
Phantom: “Rover no! This is human food, you can’t digest this!”
Rover then huffed before looking away
Maiden: “Wow, you’re really serious when it comes to taking care of him.” She said with a compliment.
Phantom: “Of course, he’s a resident after all.”
Maiden: “Resident? But I thought the process of introducing a new resident was more… formal?”
Phantom: “Not as a direct creation of him, not that I’m aware of, but he’s not a guest either, otherwise his stay here wouldn’t be so long.” He said, scratching Rover’s ear.
Maiden also finished her cup of tea before pouring another for her and Phantom. Suddenly, one of the dolls from the shelves fell down.
Maiden: “Oh no!”
Rover then went over to the doll, sniffed it, then picked it up with his teeth.
Maiden: “Aiiieeee!! Rover no! Put him down!”
Phantom: “!!! Puppeteer, that made me realize something!”
Maiden: “What is it?”
Phantom: “Toys! I’ve yet to get Rover proper dog toys!” He said, shaking his head, how could he have not realized after Rover had chewed up his slippers (rip slippers)
Maiden: “Oh don’t beat yourself down for it so much, this is your first ever time taking care of a dog, you didn’t know!”
Phantom: “Puppeteer, can I borrow anything that can entertain Rover while I buy some toys from the store?”
Maiden: “Hmm, nothing here I think could help, the dolls are too precious, and the rest are either doll making supplies, or a ball of yarn that could get tangled up easily. Let me ask the Jester if he has a ball Rover can play with.”
Phantom: “Thank you Maiden, I owe you one.” He said, drinking up his 2nd teacup before getting up and leaving.
Maiden: “You’re welcome!”
— A few hours Later —
Phantom: enters the House “Maiden, I’m Ba-”
Phantom was stopped dead in his tracks on what he saw.
Maiden: “I’ve been defeated!”
There, Rover layed on Maiden using all his body weight to pin her down.
Phantom: “Rover! What are you doing?!”
Maiden: “Relax! Relax! We were just playing.” she said, holding a red ball, presumably from the Jester. “Here, catch!” She said, throwing the ball to Phantom.
Phantom caught the ball with the one hand that wasn’t carrying anything. Just then, Rover got off the Maiden and ran up to him.
Phantom: “Woah woah! Easy there boy!”
Maiden: “Throw the ball.”
Phantom then threw the ball before Rover and the Maiden raced for it.
Maiden: “Rover got it first.”
Rover then threw the ball, in which Phantom was able to get it.
Phantom: “Are we keeping score of this?”
Maiden: “Nope! We’re just practicing who can get the ball faster than the other.”
Phantom: “I see.” He said, as he threw the ball again.
Achier: vacuuming the carpet “Remember, if you break anything in this House, you’ll have to clean it up.”
Phantom: “Will do Purifier.”
Achier: (Hmm, I’ve never seen the Phantom act like this.)
And so Achier watched curiously as the three player in the living room. Throwing the ball around and chasing after it.
