What grace is to me as a mum
It's mother's day & it's not even lunchtime and I have already cried a few times. As our little family gathered for church online, I was reminded of 2 years ago where in a packed colour conference venue I prayed that whatever God willed, however He chose to do it, we'd become parents. I had tearfully prayed for a few years but this time was different. I think the tears were no longer just tears of desperation mixed with the usual tears of longing and fear, but also tears of surrender. I just knew in my heart that we were gonna have a family & it didn't matter to either of us how God was gonna do that, whether in a traditional sense or not. I remember a tremendous amount of peace following that day. Within 2 weeks we made our first faith purchase while on vacation, buying bigger size baby clothes incase that baby came in a different way. Little did I know I was coming back from vacation with a miracle & I could have bought some newborn things. Today while we were listening to church online and the talk of miracle May month I looked over at my miracle giggling next to me & just got overwhelmed with gratitude for him and for this baby girl now in my tummy. Being a mom is the greatest honor God has granted me, but thankfully it didn't end with just giving me my babies. My babies also came with an abundance of Grace for the moments that I’m not so graceful. Grace for the moments when I don't get it right, & then grace in knowing that their future will not be defined by those moments. Grace to learn and to do better because babies are so forgiving. And man, as much as us moms can be super moms, it's Grace to know that there is power beyond my own ability, provision in excess of what my husband and I can provide, and protection beyond where we can physically go. Grace is knowing that they have a powerful creator, who loves them even more than me.
Happy mothers day to all the moms. May we never lose sight of what a miracle these little ones are and of the Grace available to us.
Thank you to my babies for bringing me so much joy just by being you, mamma loves u more than words can say. And ofcourse thank you to the best babydaddy & husband I could ever have asked for.
