I fucking LOVE motion controls. I DON'T CARE if Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword was super janky, I LOVED swinging the sword around. I LOVED the Mario Galaxy levels where you're balancing on a ball with MOTION CONTROLLS and have to navigate through levels.
I fucking LOVE gimmicks

Motion Control - "Organic Storm" Arctic Circles: A Selection of Sub Zero Soundscapes 1997 IDM
OK, it's time for me to start frigid-posting, folks. If temps are gonna be this historically low, then I guess I should write about some music that has the proper vibe to match it. So here's a little gem from a duo out of Bergen, Norway called Motion Control. Forming themselves out of an ambient trio called Neural Network, Motion Control's mission was to be more rhythmic in their productions, and here they've got some placidly psychedelic IDM for us, with an exclusive by the name of "Organic Storm" that appeared on northern Norwegian label Beatservice Records' 1997 compilation, Arctic Circles: A Selection of Sub Zero Soundscapes.
More iPad accessibility
So I like to dig around the accessibility menus of the iPad:
So you don't have to (WoooAAaaAAAAH /Hippyotech)
Because sometimes they're useful to me
Because sometimes they're useful to someone else, if only they knew those options were available!
Bored
So anyway, a little feature Apple didn't bother to mention: Face tracking as Input.
See, all those Neural Engines and AI Cores that are the Good AI (The ones that do image recognition so you can OCR your scanend docs and handwriting, and do high speed face tracking for MeMoji animation and Snapchat filters) are really great at recognising faces.
OK. So what? Face recognition rant incoming?
Noooo! OK scenario: you have limited mobility for whatever reason. You wanna use your iPad without your hands, keyboard, or mouse.
Would it be helpful to be able to scroll up and down by doing a big blink or scrunching your nose? Move the mouse cursor around by pointing where you wanna go with your nose? Turn on Dictation by sticking out your tongue?
Well yeah OK you get it, that's what the head tracking option does. There's also eye-tracking but that's not as useful unless the iPad doesn't move and your head is held in place.
Say the Word
There's also Vocal Shortcuts. That turns the Mic on and listens for phrases. E.g. Scroll-up, Go-Back…
You get to define the trigger and what it does..
Fun fact: You can activate other accessibility options using this or Siri. e.g. "Make it Rain" to turn on the Background Audio, or trigger the option for throwing a grid over the screen so you can talk the iPad through what you want, using the grid squares…
Which is very Bleaderunner. "A2. Zoom. B4. Click."
