I've been saying that technology in general lost all whimsy and that definitely goes for gaming as well. There was always some new gimmick that came with the advances of technology. And it's just not whimsical anymore. Now we just have A.I. 🤢

Every project used to be magical, Akanator or the Wayback Machine which used make me so curious to look under the hood and see what made them tick.

For awhile AI was cool like that for me not the large language models but the actual interesting projects that utilized neural nets like Infinite Craft.

But nothing is more discouraging to me about the subject I love than going hack-a-thons and seeing someone’s project is to make a weather app by making a text box that calls Chat GPT to pull up weather data, it’s such an unbelievable waste of resources.

Build cool stuff again, even if it doesn’t have enough marketing buzzwords.

It’s sad that when Mina the Hollower was revealed to have multiple difficulty settings people thought that would make the game worse, because, realistically every game should have difficulty settings at very least as an accessibility option.

You shouldn’t not be able to enjoy a game because it’s too difficult, and that’s not to say games can’t be difficult but why is it a controversial topic to want to have the option to turn down the difficulty of a game.

Indie games have an excuse, but at this point if you are spending 80 dollars on a games you should be able to make the enemies die if you look at them funny.

I am fully willing to admit this is my own nostalgia, but there was something magical about every game developer for the Wii and early mobile games pushing those platforms to their limits.

Some of the games I am most nostalgic for are just random throw together mobile games that required you to spin your phone to make work.

On the 3DS, Nintendo just gave you a bunch of free games using AR and motion control features, i’d love to see the mid 2000’s group of interns working at nintendo who came up with face raiders.

Would I ever give up the current gaming landscape to go back to that? no probably not (maybe i’d give up the current mobile game landscape), but it does feel like something has been lost from that era that I wouldn’t mind coming back.

Spoken as someone who used to consider believe that you have to have dysphoria and be taking hormones to be authentically transgender,

the Transmed philosophy is so incredibly harmful for the transgender community.

Ignoring the obvious like the fact that not everyone can medically transition if they wanted too (for economic, social, or medical reasons) which already makes this movement seem out of touch, because in order to believe in this you have to create a definition of transgenderism which intentionally excludes massive demographics within the community.

even more than that is that you genuinely have to believe you know more about peoples lived experience and situation than they themselves know. People know better than you what is going on in their lives, for you it might have been the right decision to medically transition but that doesn’t mean that anyone who decides against it is less than you in any way.

Everyone who wants to go on hormones should 100% be able to and it really is disheartening to hear about people who are not able to for a number of ways, but it does not mean that it is necessary.

For me, I never felt worse than when I ardently believe this. It was always what I needed to do next and that I was never good enough, when you believe that you never give yourself time to feel good about how far you’ve came.

The best way to help your community is not to tear other trans people down, if there is an issue with any part of the trans community it is with people who choose to turn their own insecurities on other people.
