For as long as I can remember, I have always loved the mountains. I have always found comfort in the peace and silence the mountains offer. As if they are listening to you as you listen to them. My father had instilled in me my love for animals and the beautiful places they inhabit at a very young age. I remember going to the peaks of Sonora in California and always taking pictures by his “rock” where he’d sit and ponder his blessings and problems as a young man. I remember exploring Yosemite and being in awe of what beauty the world could create. I always thanked my father for showing me this side of the world; the quiet, not yet taken over by people or technology side. The natural world we don’t all too often get to see. Now, as I grow older, the mountains are still with me and I go to them every time they call, whether it be in California, Colorado, or any of the places I soon shall visit. It seems as though they are a reminder of my childhood, my father, and of the person I wish to be.
