Photo of the Day – The Purple-throated Mountaingem (Lampornis calolaemus) is a medium-sized species of hummingbird. This is a territorial species, and males will make their presence known with repeated bursts of short trills. While the species feeds mainly on nectar, sometimes their diet can be supplemented with the occasional insect.
