Oh, it’s wonderful with Hollandaise or Bearnaise sauce! But if you want something lighter (not so much butter), Greek avgolemono sauce is a reasonably good alternative too. 😀

Long version: prequels- he was senator from the planet Naboo, and befriended Anakin Skywalker. Over several decades, he tricked the Senate into making him emperor. It's then revealed he's a Sith (bad space wizard). He had all the Jedi (good space wizards) destroyed, and took Anakin as his apprentice, renaming him Darth Vader. Original trilogy, he disbands the Senate so he has full power. He's eventually killed by Vader. Then he got better for the new film, apparently.

The Emperor from Episodes 4 through 6, Dark Lord of the Sith, Big Bad Guy, has been resurrecting himself since the 90s in the Star Wars franchise.

Thanks a lot, guys - I’m a bit wiser now, then! For some reason Palpatine didn’t sound to me like a name, a specific person - I had a vague idea that it was a name for a group of people or something like that...

It is probably obvious I am not a big Star Wars geek - I hardly know who are Luke and Leia and .... the guy played by Harrison Ford... I do know about Kylo and Rey though. Oh well! 😁

@ladytp �� I had the opposite reaction. I could not get enough. The music alone sets my heart soaring.

I’m glad for you, I really am! Never enough really good shows for one to enjoy!

thanks for saving me time! i was going to but suspected this would be the result, will trust your judgement (if you have amazon, watch fleabag though- warning it will break your heart but with feels and humor)

Oh please don't trust my judgment - as you see (and from the general reception), many people absolutely love it... Who knows where you will stand? But I say this much: one gets the notion pretty soon after starting to watch it - the way it starts, is the way it continues... (I don’t have Amazon but I’ll keep my eyes open for Fleabag, thanks for the hint!)

ALL THIS here - is a wonderful example of how tastes vary and hence it is impossible - and futile - to argue over them... It is fair enough for us to moan or sing praises of what we like, but indeed, the main thing is to understand that somebody else can have a completely different view - and that is just as valid...

I see this more in the form of debates about the directions a show or movie has gone - when opinions differ whether it was a good or bad direction. But equally valid here, judging the whole premise of a show or movie.

Power to all who love “Good Omens” - glad you found something you like! For me... Nah, I don’t care about it (however, I have one more episode left to see and since I have gone this far, I’m going to watch it even if it kills me!) 

Thank you for sharing your opinions, ladies, and showing me once more what a diverse place the world is... 😁

i think we’re largely desensitized to the sweetness, especially since, in the states, it’s made out of high fructose corn syrup. certain mexican food places will have “mexican coke” made with real sugar instead of hfcs. that is so sickly sweet i can’t stand it. 

It must be true - one gets used to something, and craves for more... the same can happen with other food ingredients too, I’m sure. Both the things you mention don’t sound particularly appealing to me though...sounds very sweet!

@ladytp I only drink Mountain Dew if I'm nauseous. With meals I drink hot or iced tea...I just love tea and it aids digestion. Since I'm on meds, there are many things that have a heavy chemical taste and soda is the worst of all.

It is indeed what one is used to - believe it not, in Finland it was common to eat meals with a glass of cold milk, and nobody thought it being anything unusual! I prefer water these days over anything else - except when it is wine. Wine goes with food so well... but water lets the true flavour of food to play in one's mouth.  Oh well!

i'd never tried either until after i saw that episode. pretty good. not "best thing ever" simply because i hadn't grown up with it to develop a taste.

Mountainlane is right, grits and polenta are essentially the same. Sometimes we make it with cheese as a side dish or with milk, sugar and butter, like oatmeal.

I like polenta with Italian dishes, made into a meat or vegetable stock, sometimes spiced up with fried mushrooms and even a decadent blob of blue cheese... Or let to set, cut into pieces and fried. This is a slightly new interpretation - but with sugar??? I’m afraid not too keen on that... :-0

The worst part is that most of those hours are spent dancing (like in a club, with stroboscopic lights and in a mass of bodies). I don’t like dancing in larges groups of people, I feel judged. Specially when I know four people tops. Extra specially when I’m wearing uncomfortable shoes, everyone’s bumping into tiny!me and my strapless dress keeps getting tugged down by the constant motion of being smooshed into people and thrown about.
