Today seems like an appropriate day to update about the cucamelon/🇲🇽 sour gherkin
It's on my window sill and the tendrils have gotten so long and desperately want to grab something
I think it would have latched onto my blinds if I didn't insert a skewer

Here comes the cutest cucumber ever: Mouse melon, aka Mexican Sour Gherkin.
Kids that claim to hate cucumbers can't even resist eating these :D
The Mexican sour gherkin is technically not a cucumber. The genus Cucumis contains lots of familiar crops, included gourds, but only one species, Cucumis sativus, is considered a cucumber proper. The Mexican sour gherkin belongs to another genus entirely, Melothria. So it’s not a real cucumber but an honorary one.
What to eat this week: Cucamelons! Also known as Mouse Melon or Mexican Sour Cucumber, Melothria scabra is part of the Cucurbitaceae family and is native to Mexico and Central America.
Also, they are delicious.
