Raised in the same village together, Farhan and Elaine were notorious among the villagers for being the pair of mischievous children who got their hands on a rare cowplant berry and dared to plant it. Nurturing a cowplant was no easy task, but with Elaine’s wits and Farhan’s eagerness, they were a force not to be trifled with. Soon, both of them created an inseparable bond. Around Farhan, Elaine’s usually icy exterior melted and underneath revealed a soft and gentle soul. Elaine only showed this side of herself when in the company of her animal friends, and now Farhan as well. As for Farhan, he wanted so badly to impress Elaine that his usual silly and sometimes laidback self ended up becoming diligent and purposeful. As the years flew by, Farhan thought more and more about turning his friendship with Elaine into something more. One day, after experiencing a near death experience from getting stuck inside his cowplant, Farhan quickly realised that life was short and he did not want to leave with any regrets. He mustered up his courage and confessed his feelings to Elaine and to his surprise, she told him that she felt the same way. Throughout the next four years of high school, Farhan daydreamed about his future with Elaine. He envisioned a typical family farm life in Henford, him working in his general store and Elaine tending to the animals on their plot of land. Meanwhile, Elaine was doing everything she could to get into the distinguished Biology programme in the University of Foxbury. She drowned herself in AP classes and extracurriculars in order to achieve this goal. Farhan, not wanting to be apart from Elaine, did everything with her. However when the time came to apply for universities, Farhan did not apply but Elaine did. To her shock, Farhan had no interest in going to university and he had expected that the both of them would maintain a long distance relationship. To his dismay, Elaine did not share the same dreams and desires. When it came to the last few days before Elaine’s departure to university, she decided to end her relationship of four years with Farhan.
Farhan spent the next couple years trying to get over his heartbreak and eventually, he did. Having inherited his father’s general store business, Farhan kept himself busy and without much thought, the years passed by quickly. On a warm summer’s day, Elaine returned home to Henford. She had missed the friendliness and warmth of the village that Foxbury lacked. Shortly after her return, Elaine opened the first veterinarian clinic in Henford near her parents’ ranch where her parents sold farm animals and animal supplies to all the residents of Henford. Farhan had attempted to greet Elaine a few times but she had always seemed closed off and uninterested so he had quickly decided that she was not open to being friends. However, Elaine was ridden with guilt from how she had left things with Farhan in the past and found herself not knowing how to act whenever she was approached by him. The discomfort and tension between the two of them did not go unnoticed by the townsfolk. Word travels fast in a small town like Henford and news of their relationship quickly became the talk of the town. That was until Midori moved in. The new girl’s sudden arrival became the villagers’ new topic of interest and she caught the eye of both Farhan and Elaine.
Farhan and Elaine’s chances of getting back together are slim to none, but would they ever become the best friends they used to be?
