i noticed that whenever i select something with the select tool and then try to move it with the move tool, rather than being able to move it freely like before, i can only move it in either a horizontal or vertical line. do you know how i can fix it?
That usually indicates a Shift key is down.
Check nothing is resting on a Shift key (for me, it’s usually the corner of a book or a cat’s paw), try tapping the Shift key once to unlock it in case the software state has become stuck, try tapping both Shift keys two times rapidly in case one is physically stuck (careful: 5 times in a row can activate the StickyKeys accessibility feature in both Windows and MacOS where you tap a modifier key like Shift or Ctrl once to turn it on, like holding down the key, and tap it again to turn it off).
