Light/Dark
Exploring shadows from the rays of the mighty power sun! Nothing is stronger in brightness than the fireball in the sky.
This 3D low fidelity view of buildings are non-accurate to actual measurements of the site. But here, my only concern that I’m paying my attentions to is how I can manipulate light with few switches in the shadow window on SketchUp. I like how it customises to any month of the year. Gets the designer to think beyond the hours from 9-5 on a working days shift. Plus it even gives a timezone to indicate where you are located in the world. I’m amazed by how you can operate this, even so, the software only reacts to the time of day and the direction of where the model is facing. That’s the key factor when it comes to terms of experimenting with light qualities with Indigo. Before jumping on to Indigo, I want to make sure I get my stage design complete. I don’t want to test fake models or objects that are not appropriate for the statement that I wrote from the beginning of this project.
Mood Board version 1.0
MELODY + BASSLINE + EFFECT + BEAT + RHYTHM + BREAK = AVICII
The aesthetic of the visual design will involve geometric shapes. They will be sharp and pointy to symbolise not only how Avicii wanted peace but how we can remind ourselves that life is priceless. Right-Angled triangles and squares also came from the inspiration from Avicii’s watermark. View the second image to see how the watermark was carefully thought of by J.Design. Choosing the base colour was straight forward, I instantly felt I had a good grip on the colour swatch from the get-go. Adobe Color CC has this page where you can extract colours from any given image that is stored on your computer. Machine-learning picked up bright colours from my rough mood board that I put together. I’ll post more on this in the next post.
Based on research that I came across on Google Chrome. Avicii committed suicide by slashing himself with a shard of glass. This devasting news added a new dimension to the component. Flipping the pages in my sketchbook to the earlier conceptual stage, was this one concept that I made which shocked me up to this point. It was -“broken glass” - though I wasn’t too much aware of how his death. The connection between the concept and reality creates a whole new experience. Therefore, the concert’s purpose is to boldly lead mental illness to the front of the line.
Now it’s time to head on over to Sketchup to test with daylight and darkness. It was a technique that I left out to learn, so I’m thinking of going back a step to be able to appreciate lighting conditions. Then after trying that out, I’ll finally get onto rendering with another software called “Indigo”. Credit: Made by Giordano with Adobe Experience Design.
Lighting, Lighting, Lighting and more Lighting…
Music: Dynamic - Exuberant - Beaming - Extravagant Dance Music is no stranger to stimulating special effects. The storming popularity of EDM has inspired event organiser to design bigger, better and flashier production elements to attract and excite fans who demand more than just music. The creative stage design thought the process is mind-blowing from laser shows to breathtaking prop elements which helps transform us to another world. A place where we can wash away our real-world problems. An atmosphere to take us to a moment of pure bliss.
Watching “True Stores documentary trailer” there are flashing scenes of images and footage of his numerous gigs and live playing concerts. Timestamp (0:39-0:41) there is this special smoke effect that gives the concert stage or event that professional entertainment look. Which can be seen at concerts and nightclubs around the world. It's that snappy cut which stimulates the impression of excitement and that sparking razzle-dazzle.
True Stories
Tim Bergling or popularly known as “Avicii” is a Swedish musician, DJ, remixer and recording producer. An important figure who turned Electronic Dance Music to where it is today. He pushed our culture forward in exponential ways that were never thought possible. Tim’s story began when he realised that he had a talent for making music from simply downloading a software programme in his apartment block in Stockholm. At a young age, his father would growl Tim for playing his music too loud.
“ For me, it’s creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do”.
Chart-topping global radio hits like the names of “LE7ELS”, “Wake me up” & “Hey Brother” are traces of him transforming the modern era of techno music by shattering expectations to collide contrasting genres. He went from small clubs to big clubs, theatres to amphitheatres. A was a humble man who knew how to evoke happiness to audiences from places all over the world. In nearly every song you listen to now, will take you back to the glory days of the artist producing house vibes.
“ I focused on melodies and picked on melodies because its most important part in songs, it is a universal language”
Outside of the studio booth or the epic arenas, the artist on a personal level was suffering from stress, anxiety and illness. These factors were eating away at him during his young adult life. He had to retire touring because of the hectic schedule to travel and party to events and gigs was well and truly above him to copy with. Sadly he passed away with life in the spotlight. Though his body of work and admiring fans will always remember him, for being that person that revolutionise the dance and house music.

Textures
Went for a walk around the spatial block and the rest of the college to find examples of textures that I can test for mocking up prototypes on Sketchup. My favourite one from them all would have the first image that you see from this post. (F.16 I don't what this effect is? but it’s rad. It's next to the only automated door on the campus) It’s fascinating when you move away from the window. The dots create a foggy haze. But as you approach closer to the window the more you can see, which is the natural habitat of trees and plants. Credit: Photos taken by Giordano on iPhone
