Time for another life update!
So, our move has been Chaos Incarnate. It all started with a hurricane last Tuesday. At 3:30pm, the power went out in our old building. So, we were sitting huddled up together in my old empty bedroom because the heaters didn't work and my wife forgot to take her coat before the movers packed it (so I gave her my jacket and was wearing my hoodie and we were both freezing). But then one of the movers came in and informed us that his two colleagues were TRAPPED IN THE ELEVATOR. I had to call 911 and they sent out a fire truck to get them out. 5 men with axes showed up. It took over an hour to finally get my movers out of the elevator, but they couldn't open it all the way up, so about a third of all our stuff got trapped inside. At this point, the movers had to finish moving everything via stairs. By the time we got to the new place it was 7pm. We realized that one of our book shelves was too big for the stairwell and had to leave it in the garage. They finally finished assembling my bed and left at 10pm, thinking they'll be back the next day to finish the move.
TLDR my shit is STILL ON THAT ELEVATOR. Best case scenario, it might be out tomorrow, but there's another storm rolling in, so I'm not holding my breath 😂
In the meantime, apparently dumb shit comes in threes because we also had to send our new couch back to the store since it too wouldn't fit through the stairwell in the new place. However, my wife managed to single handedly and very hotly disassemble that huge book shelf and now it's in pieces on our living room floor 🤣
To sum up: we have beds but no couch and no book shelves and we're also missing a whole bunch of other stuff which, until proven otherwise, we're assuming is all "in the elevator" which has become some kind of a huge joke.
Anyways, things are coming along, and please enjoy my new view. 😘
