I whimsically blazed Martin and Bosco’s post once on July 13, 2022. Anyone on Tumblr can blaze the original if they choose to. Tumblr itself also promotes it as a “special post”, so Martin and Bosco randomly appear on people’s dashboards without my involvement. I suggest blocking millenniallust4death to improve your dashboard experience.

The wording in the "Where's that comment?" post is very interesting. Tumblr presents the new feature as a way to find comments from yourself and the people you follow, as if this is a user benefit I have secretly longed for.

A reblog is an expensive form of engagement, but commenting is relatively cheap. From Tumblr's perspective, comments likely represent a large pool of engagement signals that currently do little to help content move through the network. By incorporating comments into content discovery, Tumblr can increase circulation while extracting more value from that data for feed ranking, recommendations, and targeted ads.

@jubs here, today, to tell you about a feature we're building: Comments by author!

Comments (or replies) have been around for a while, but they have always been tucked away from your regular feed, and so we're working on a few ways to integrate them into the rest of our experience.

Soon, blogs will have a Comments tab alongside Posts, Likes, and Following. There, you will be able to see posts other people have been commenting on, and, more importantly, find your own comments! This was not possible before, except through notifications if someone engaged with your comment.

We're also working on a way to surface posts commented on by people you follow in your feeds. You will be able to find those in the For You tab, and later, alongside chronological posts in the Following tab.

So, how do you identify those posts in the feeds? 

Replied posts will show a small preview right there in your dashboard, before you click anything. 

This is not out yet, but soon! In the meantime, tell us what you think and expect from this! ☺︎

First of all, thank you all for the feedback in the original post!

Today, we're launching the new "Comments" tab for Blog pages, and we'll be testing a For You recommendation based on comments from people you follow. The posts will have a preview of the reply, so you know why you're seeing that post.

You will be able to control the new tab visibility, and whether we should include your comments in your follower's feeds, through a new setting:

The toggle can be found on https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/YOUR_BLOG or in the General Settings > Replies section, on Mobile. If you have already disabled the "Share posts you like" setting, the setting will default to disabled.

The new tab is only available on Web and iOS (44.8+) for now, but the toggle is available to everyone (including on Android), so you can control what other people see on your blogs, even if you don't have the new feature yet. Don't worry, we have plans to implement the tab and posts on Android, soon!

We want to later include these replied posts to the Following feed as well, and we're planning on adapting the current "Include posts liked by the blogs you follow" toggle to also consider comments, in case you don't want to see shared comments from people you follow.

I read an article in the New York Times that the US government is considering a policy for graduate degree programs that would effectively ask:

Are alumni making enough money a few years after finishing their degree?

If the answer is no, the students in those programs could lose access to federal student loans.

Careers in the arts, music, museums, and filmmaking don't follow a straight line from graduation to a high salary. That makes this policy a statement about what American society values.

On an unrelated note, I also read in the New York Times that the war in Iran has cost $25 billion as of April 29, 2026.

real talk, i saw this other vid 7 years ago where a trainer like this lady gave some of the most important physical health advice I ever heard that changed my life:

#1. You should be able to lay down on the floor (face down or back) and be able to get up without your hands. If you can't? Spend a little bit every day just doing that, laying on the floor and getting up again no hands style, then laying down again (you'd be surprised how fast it wears you out after a few times)

#2. You should be able to get up out of a chair without using your hands or grabbing on to anything. Can't? Fucking start training mother fucker! Just a few uppies every day could save your damn life when you get older!

#3. You should be able to turn your neck to the side without twisting your upper body in the same direction, you should be able to turn your head freely without moving your shoulders, chest or torso! Start looking up loosy goosy neck exercises! It makes such a HUGE difference!

#4. You should be able to motherfucking stand on one foot and keep your balance for longer then 15 seconds. Haha sounds easy right? Thats what I thought when I tried after watching that vid, i was horrified to find how hard it was! I started doing "one leggy style" standing any chance I got, when I'm in line somewhere, when I'm watching a video... just do a few rounds of 10 seconds on each leg for like 5 min every day!

You get older and you think you still have all the same limberness as you did when you were 8, but whens the last fucking time you ran around and played like an 8 year old? You loose that flexibility so subtlety and then one day when you need it? BAM ITS GONE

Start getting into these habits now, i don't care if you're 18/25/30/45/50 OR WHATEVER JUST START YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

the beauty of early 2000s shows is that they just... stuck to the bit. You watch this show to see a neurodiverent man solve crime with his best friend, you will get that for 8 seasons. We said this show would be about an ex-spy and his employer who built an AI and the people they save. They will do it even when they admit in the show it makes no sense because that's what you signed up for. Leverage commited so much that they got a modern version that still does the same thing instead of being 6 episode seasons about one big con.

I miss "filler" episodes, but they aren't filler because that's what you signed up for! that's why you watch the show! to see them do the thing you started watching the show for!

I don't think adult humans get enough cuddles and I am so serious.

You look at almost any other species of mammal and they give each other physical affection all the time, but for some reason we've decided that physical affection when you're an adult should be exclusively romantic and to want frequent physical affection from your friends or family is strange or sus or a sign you actually view them romantically, and this can't be good for us I don't think.
