Moving Type

Final after effects piece for the PDF hand in, wanted it to match the theme for my PDF of looking like my corkboard. I aimed for it to feel personal, including items already on my board (train tickets home, safety pins, photobooth photos with friends etc). I thought to animate the letters into a pre existing environment would be different, intially adding more letters than actually needed which dissapear underneath the ‘HELLO my name is’ sticker. 

I aim to increase my knowledge of after effects so in future I can addd even more effects to things that aren’t just movement based

The Visual Language is Moving

Above is the final product of my first video project using Adobe Premier Pro and a ton of photography. This project was designed to use kinetic type to tell a story. I chose to tell a quick story about street art and some influence it has had on modern art as we know it.

The challenge was conceiving how to use my own visual language in telling this story. I decided to use stop-motion because it allowed me to have a great amount of control over exactly how each transition appeared and how the type moved. One of the keys to using the visual language in a video setting is making sure that the viewer has the appropriate amount of time to interact with and take in each event. Timing plays a large role in story telling, and can also be the difference on whether or not your next foray into using the visual language will resonate with others.
