Rarely found in cultivation this Gleditsia delavayi was growing over this mown path in Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK. This deciduous tree has fearsome thorns on the trunk and branches which may not make it a popular species for ornamental situations!

In Helmsley Walled Garden, Yorkshire, UK, the orchard in a wildflower meadow has been very productive. It was the perfect place to take a walk through the mown paths. There were a range of Malus domestica cultivars both grown as trees and trained as espaliers on the walls.
