“Don’t you know what that is? It’s Spring fever... And when you’ve got it, you want — oh, you don’t quite know what it is you DO want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” [Mark Twain]

Today I stopped along the fence to see the most beautiful tree in the world in full bloom. The scent is intoxicating. While I was there someone in a pickup truck stopped to look and said “I’ve been here 3 years and I never noticed that tree!”
Sometimes I think my main function in life is just to stand and say, “Look!”

In the amazing Amisfield Walled Garden, East Lothian, that is gardened by community, volunteers, were these espalier trained Malus domestica ‘James Grieve’ (apple). This is a Scottish variety developed some time before 1893 when it was first recorded. The fruit is medium sized and stippled with orange-red.

Quick little fruit taste, had a Cosmic Crisp apple (malus domestica 'cosmic crisp') a little while ago! The skin of it is so waxy that you can rub/scrape off some of it. Taste wise, well.. It sure is an apple! Very sweet, also quite sour, but not at all acidic like a granny smith (malus domestica 'granny smith') can be. Other OP HATES granny smith apples, but didn't mind the sourness of the Cosmic Crisp. All in all not the most exciting fruit review, but I don't mind trying new apple varieties!
