We get a fairly good idea of what Mozart really looked like (at least at the time of his death) in the image of his, sadly, death mask

St. Gilgen: A Cultural Hub in the Heart of the Salzkammergut
Mozart’s legacy continues to shape St. Gilgen’s music scene today. The village regularly hosts performances and festivals dedicated to his works, drawing musicians and music lovers from around the world. Visit St. Gilgen during the summer months, when the Mozart-inspired events fill the streets with music, and the lakeside venues provide an idyllic backdrop for open-air concerts. Experience the connection between Mozart’s timeless compositions and the village that nurtured his early musical talents.
Musical interlude
The two museums I visited in Vienna don’t really lend themselves to pictures and text. The Mozart Haus even forbids photography. It is in a three-story building of flats. Mozart and his family lived in one of these flats while he wrote Le Nozze de Figaro. The top flat provides insight into life in Vienna at the time Mozart lived there, the middle one focuses on the opera and the first floor flat…
Location: Vienna, Austria
The Mozarthaus Vienna was Mozart's residence from 1784 to 1787. This building in Vienna's Old Town, not far from St. Stephen's Cathedral, is his only surviving Viennese residence and is now a museum.
The house is located on Domgasse. It was built in the 17th century, originally with two floors, and redeveloped in 1716. Mozart rented rooms here from 1784, at which time it was also known as the Camesina House, after the family which had owned it since 1720. Since the original entrance of the house facing the Schulerstraße (the one Mozart used) was walled up to make room for a shop, the house has to be entered today from its rear in the Domgasse.
