So I finished reading The Conference of the Birds finally.
And... ok. The story so far, in terms of conflict and the whole thing with Caul and the prophecy? Not bad. I’ve always been fond of the prophecy trope and him coming back from the collapsed loop is something I think will definitely be interesting, even though I did see it coming. I’m SO glad Fiona is back! That was a definite plus for me! And honestly I’m liking that there’s more... gore lately in the story. I may just be remembering wrong, but from what I can recall the violence was less graphic in the last books. All in all, I’m looking forward to what happens to all the characters in the next book, and the roles they’ll play in attempting to end this ‘apocalypse’.
However, one thing that ruined basically the entirety of the book for me- was Noor. When Noor was first introduced, I didn’t mind her. Her role in the story seemed interesting, and her peculiarity is very creative. However, she has been dumbed down into nothing but a personality-less love interest for Jacob. Yes, she’s strong and adds to the story, but she’s just so..... boring. I hate how immediately invested Jacob and her became when they just met. Not to mention that their annoying need to always be with each other brought the spotlight away from literally every other character. Yes, Emma and Jacob were with each other a lot, but they were also with everyone else! Not to mention Emma has a distinguishable personality.
Anyways, thus ends my ramble (that nobody will read) about the latest Miss Peregrine’s book.
