Song of Spring || Pan&Jihoon

He had made it.
The safe haven that was Mount Phoenix was finally his. Pan had immediately rushed his ailing self to the wildest place available, which happened to be a dark and dreary forest. There didn’t seem much opportunity for sunshine, but sunshine was not the god’s immediate concern. Pan didn’t even bother to create a bed of soft grass like he usually would. Instead, he laid down on what appeared to be the softest patch of grass in the patchy sunlight that managed to filter through the thick canopy of leaves overhead. Curious animals - deer, rabbits, foxes, and even a young wolf - approached to find their god curled up in a small, dimly lit clearing. They didn’t stay long, except the wolf that sat beside the god to keep watch over him.
After taking a good long nap, sunshine suddenly became a concern. Pan stretched his aching body, cursing his physical form. He was by no means cured, but the sickly paleness of his skin had faded somewhat and his hair was beginning to return from a dusty grey-brown to honey-brown, creeping ever closer to its natural shade of amber. Sunshine would surely help.
The wolf bowed before running off into the darkness of the forest. Pan made a mental note to explore everything it had to offer later. He had never had any need to come to this place, as his wild places had always been enough. But he had been driven out in search of shelter where he could recover to his former glory. The chances of that were starting to appear slim. Strengthening legs took him as far as the edge of the forest where Pan flopped down inelegantly and leaned against a tree in the warm spring sunshine. A hand felt blindly at his belt for the panpipes he kept there, and Pan pulled out his favorite instrument to play a song to match the atmosphere, a warm and delicate one that made tiny wildflowers push up out of the dirt around his feet until they surrounded him.
