NINTENDO PLAYERS - 196 - SKY SKIPPER

I had one final spot to fill in this set and wasn't quite sure who to put there, but after learning about Sky Skipper I thought it would be nice to pay homage to the game and its dedicated fans.

I hadn't heard of it until it was announced as an Arcade Archive at E3, and wondered why on earth it was being given such reverence.

Turns out this game was all but lost for decades. A hardcore group of fans spent a lot of time and energy attempting to find an original arcade board and make a fully functional replica (it's a pretty interesting read: www.skyskipperproject.com/) but eventually Nintendo discovered they had the one remaining cabinet in their warehouse and decided to a copy of it onto the Switch, so it can finally be played by the general public!

It's another one of those repetitive arcade games with no clear ending (right?) but it now has an interesting historical significance and I always love to see old forgotten games given a new lease of life and proper recognition by Nintendo.

I know technically the character is called "Mr. You" but I figured it was more deserving to give him the ice Climbers treatment and put him in his ubiquitous plane with the title of "Sky Skipper."

I woke up the other day to find this track had been played a few thousand times thanks to Rebornica.

So In response I’ve gone ahead and added Mr. You to the vault, because that confused the hell out of me.
