Agnaldo Rayol Feat. Claudya - Sumaúma (1971)
Another cool Brazilian record rescued by the people at Mr. Bongo, who describe it thusly: "This epic track has a psyche break-beat drum and bass groove intro." Agnaldo Rayol is probably better known as an actor.

A Tribe Called Quest “Scenario” German yellow 7″ (1992, 2019)
What’s the scenario? Mr. Bongo will clue you in. Brighton’s all-in-one music label, film label, and record store re-issued Tribe’s block-party rap last year. 100 copies in total were pressed on yellow vinyl for distribution in Germany. Right now is the best time to re-visit one of A Tribe Called Quest’s many bonafide gold-era classics.
Kit Sebastian — Mantra Moderne (Mr. Bongo)
Mantra Moderne plies a retro sort of futurism, its sleek compositions glittering with forward-looking cool from about 1971. Europop, lounge jazz, Latin slink and Turkish psych bubble in its polyglot super shiny mix, as if all the cultures in the world got a spin, right here on a Jetson-esque space station. On a cursory listen, you might assume it’s one of those records that got away from us before the listen-to-everything-right-now internet era, but actually it was written and record just last year, on a mess of Latin percussion instruments, exotic strings (balalaikas, ouds) , cheesy 1970s synths and laid-back, in-the-pocket guitar, bass and drums.

Salutations™!! The BCPF and I went to eat first at Cafe Arthur’s which we hadn’t been to in about 18 months. We then went to a drag carwash to get Anabelle washed for the second time in two days. Then, we hopped over to Underdog Records and then home to do some listening. Here’s the haul: Various – The Original Sound Of Burkina Faso — Mr. Bongo is a world music record label that specializes in…

Lots to appreciate about this stuff.
A Song A Day #10 - A wicked wicked tune. An incredible latin jazz tune from the early seventies. I was first turned on to this by a Mr. Bongo compilation released in 2000 called Latin Beats - A Tribute To Tito Puente. It’s the lead track so there was no way I was gonna miss this one. If this doesn’t grab you then I guess there’s no hope. Apparently original copies of percussionist Sabu Martinez’s album Afro Temple featuring this tune once changed hands for $3000. Please please please check this tune out.
