Can we talk about the ASMR/Audio RP VAs, please? I'm dying to talk about the VAs-

So hi there.

Um, my name's Nyx, but I've gone by Sombra or Stray as well in different spaces. I'm an avid listener of asmr/audio roleplays and I'm present in a few of the communities and fandoms here on Tumblr.

(Hi guys!!! *waves furiously from the pedestal*)

My favorite fandom and the one I'm most present in, however, is the Bunkshelf. Mage has been my favorite creator and VA since I finished binging their channel and I've met a lot of cool people in there.

The thing about Mage, though- our beloved, scrunkly, genius raccoon over here- is that they tend to be fond of codes. And ciphers. And all sorts of delicious little secrets.

They've been getting back into that recently, and I'm HERE FOR ITTTTT. My reputation as many know is that of "feral simp go AAAAAA"- but I'm a story-lover first. You give me a good plot and I'm yours. And seeing Mage including more puzzles for us to solve in their audios is so exciting for me, I love that kind of thing.

We've had a bit of a Bunkshelf ARG going on for a couple of years now. And it's funny because I thought it would be JUST a BUNKSHELF ARG.

TURNS OUT IT'S NOT.

The keener-eyed viewers of the Bunkshelf may have noticed two codes in the latest audio. Not unusual for Mage, right? That's their reputation after all.

........ no what's unusual is the fact that over the past week, ten VAs have also had codes hidden in their videos.

All are the same type of code as the one hidden in Mage's audio.

The ARG has expanded. It's not contained solely to the Bunkshelf, but is crossing over to other Storyteller's Realms.

The Cipher Hunters in the Bunkshelf are expecting more audios with codes to be released. But we don't know from who yet. We're given clues based off of code words, and I went into more detail on them in the Ciphers page on the Bunkshelf Wiki (I'll link it below as well).

What we need- from everyone- all of y'all in the Tumblr fandoms- is to keep an eye on your VAs that you're following. There's no connection among the audios themselves, we're going from romance to space to pirates. It can come from ANYONE.

The code in the audio will look something like this:

It can start at any point in the audio and will run for an average of about five seconds, repeating twice. The key part about this code is that there is ONE letter that never changes in each line. We need those constants to figure out the key to this phase of the Bunkshelf ARG.

If you think you've found a clue, post it on Tumblr and PLEASE tag it with "#bunkshelf cipher"- we need all the eyes we can get.

I'd like to end this all by saying this is... a truly incredible, meaningful thing to do for the community. You're promoting other VAs and you're getting the different fandoms to interact and hopefully collaborate with each other. It's such a cool idea and so sweet. And so freaking IMPRESSIVE that it's being pulled off.

So to the VAs that helped in the scheming- thank you. Mage, thank you AGAIN for coming up with this game for us to play.

Redacted audios: (M4A)

I feel like most people will know him so I’ll get this out of the way first! Redacted has the perfect amount of angst, story, comfort and spice it is AMAZING. It can definitely be intimidating to start his channel- I recommend going through the EVERYTHING playlist just because it can be so hard to navigate the storyline otherwise- since they’re basically all interlinked- love him, love what he does- he has a Patreon if you desire more and also a pretty good fan base (in terms of size) on here and TikTok!!

Reverie audios: (M4A, NB4A)

They have a lot of plot and fluff, a lot of characters (not as many as redacted I don’t think) and there isn’t that many videos so it’s not as intimidating to get into- they also keep their channel pretty organised with character playlists (I’m not sure if they have a main story playlist off the top of my head) the owner has their own tumbler and I’ve seen art of their characters but it’s not as big as redacted!

Castle audios: (F4A)

Castle audios is VERY plot driven but still has comfort videos (and I’m pretty sure a Patreon for more smut content)- they do sometimes take very long breaks but the quality is so worth it. They have character playlists as well as a playlist of the main story of the cast- I personally think their the closest thing to redacted style content and their lore matches up a lot so you can imagine the characters interacting/being in the same universe! They do have a fan base on tumbler but it’s not supper big I don’t think? (Though my whole feed is js redacted I can’t lie-)

Clapbox audio: (M4A M4F)

Clapbox is still a pretty new channel- I think every post under the tumbler tag is a post BY ME- he has a lot of story driven plots but still have fluff videos and a few spicer ones- he’s still pretty new so it’s a lot less intimidating to get into- plus he keeps his channel pretty organised with character playlists as well!

Yuurivoice: (M4A)

Yuurivoice has quite a few storylines and I love ALL OF THEM. He also has a lot of characters (that he keeps in playlists, he has playlists and videos dedicated to story’s and others dedicated to characters) his character range definitely isn’t as big as redacted but that does mean they all have a pretty good amount of content. He does have story’s and AU mini-stories of his character- he also has comfort and like a lot of smut- if that’s your thing-((also amazing character art)) he has a decent fan base here and both him and his artist post here!!

Nomad’s tales and audios/Nomadic asmr: (M4A M4F)

He recently started a second channel for script fills and one shot audios (Nomadic asmr)! Nomad’s tales and audios is all one giant universe of story lines! They’re both bf asmr though- his is VERYYY plot driven, there are some older comforts but it’s definitely mainly story- he has quite a few characters and there’s a lot of content to get through that might be a little intimidating but it’s not that bad- I’m pretty sure you can just listen to th character playlists bc eve though some of them kind of intertwine they make perfect sense on their own without the other character playlists! He does have a fan base here but it’s not super big- also the artist he commissions has a tumbler!!

ZsakuVA: (M4A)

I’m still pretty new to his channel but he has a pretty decent fanbase on here and TikTok- he’s VERY story driven but does have quite a lot of comfort (sometimes pared with it sometimes by itself) I do think his stories are amazing-

Escaped audios: (M4A M4F)

I will say that he’s pretty different from redacted but I still think you’d like him. He’s VERY story driven (pretty sure his comforts and spice are on Patreon??) he can he do deep with his work it’s incredible. He also has more comedic ones!! His is only series so it’s easy to navigate- my recommendation for your first one would be: New Jersey rats or Mu true love is dead. Those are more romantic comedy, though he does have darker ones I’m scared to watch bc he isn’t afraid to kill characters.. also he’s very active on tumbler and the fandoms pretty decent!!

Mr.lavesu: (M4A)

He’s pretty active on tumbler and there’s a pretty good fandom base, im still really new to his channel but the amount of effort that he puts in it is insane- I’m js gotta recommend him even though I’ve only watched like two videos I love the quality and the art SM

Good boy audios: (M4A M4F M4M)

This channel is again just story driven really- I don’t think I’ve ever found a smut/sleepaid- I think that’s for the best because his stories are so good that if he had more he would be WAYYY too powerful!! His channel is pretty easy to navigate because it’s all stories and there not interlinked (at least the ones I’ve watched??)

IchiGekiVA: (M4M, M4A, M4F)

IchiGekiVA is definitely the least story heavy one I’ve put on this list- basically all of his videos are one shots- but he did make a long Halloween story for the entire month of October last year (oh my god I need more I loved it-) he doesn’t really have any characters it’s just him- but if you’re in need for some comfort I definitely recommend!!

Will O’ the wisp (F4A)

I’m still pretty new to her audios!! They’re pretty story driven from what I can tell and they also have AU’s of her characters! She has a pretty wide range of casts with character and AU playlists! She has her own tumbler (I think?) but the fandom isn’t that big- she totally deserves some more appreciation!!

Erin Audios (M4A)

Erin is a very anti AI audio creator! It’s a big team behind the audios! They’re of pre-existing characters from anime’s like MHA, JJK and BSD!! While I don’t think they have a big community on tumbler they definitely deserve a lot of love!! They’re are more one shot audios but there are some long story series I believe!! They’re art, the audios it’s all AMAZING I definitely recommend trying them out!!

Anigomi (M4A)

Anigomi is another channel with an entire cast behind the audios!! It’s also another channel where it’s one shot audios of pre-existing anime/game characters!! They live stream a lot so that’s always fun to watch!!

Shining armour asmr (M4A, M4F)

Shining armour is another very story driven creator! He has a lot of stories which are separated into playlists on his channel! They’re all pretty fun but I don’t think there’s comfort/slice of life audios if that’s what you’re looking for!

Obsidian lantern (M4A, M4M)

“You should try Obsidian lantern! He's one of my favorites. I'd recommend starting with the vampire or mer series, but you can start with any of them. All of them are in the same universe, similar to Redacted with the exception being Gator boys which takes place in another Asmrtists (siren song ASMR) universe” (Review by: @wormson )

I finally got a decent chunk of the way through most of his series so now I feel like I can write a proper review!! Personally I think his content is VERY beginner friendly, not because the lore isn’t complicated but because th series are easy to navigate! He separates his series into playlists so that’s nice!! Most of his audios are M4A with one M4M series for the prince- however don’t quote me on that, I have the worlds worst memory! His stories are complicated enough that you want more but not so complicated that you would give up on a lack of understanding! He also makes all of the art used in his video and I definitely reccomend his work! He also has a series without a listener in pretty sure but I haven’t listened to that one yet! I would say it’s definitely more story driven as a channel, it doesn’t have any domestic videos to my knowledge but the stories are so good that you don’t really realise! Plus most of them have a romantic subplot with the listener anyway!

Siren’s son asmr (M4A)

Siren is yet another story driven audio drama creator! He might not have the biggest fandom but I do think he deserves a bigger one! He also posts bloopers every once and a while which is the pretty fun to watch! He does have some romance in his audios but I also don’t think he posts any slice of life cuddle audios or anything like that!!
