How does Shadow of the Grave interact with madness? My understanding is the card was still discarded, just into exile, so it would still be returned when Shadow resolves.

Shadow of the Grave will return Madness cards to your hand if you discarded them this turn but didn’t cast them.

So if I have Fire Servant and Pyromancer's Gauntlet in play, does Lightning Bolt do (2+3)×2=10 damage or 2+(3×2)=8 damage or do I choose? If I can choose, can Cone of Flame do 4 or 6, 6 or 8, and 8 or 10 damage for each hit? What about multiple Servants or Gauntlets?

The player (or controller of the creature or planeswalker) that’s being damaged chooses the order in which the replacement effects are applied to the damage. This means that generally, you’re going to get the lesser amount of damage out of this combo.

Another judging question. How long is training, on average? Also related, what format are the tests (at least yours, anyway) and are they difficult? I told my friends about maybe becoming a judge and they all wanted me to go through with it so I want to make sure it's feasible to someone as mildly experienced as I am. (Also thanks in advance in case you end up answering more of my silly questions. I'm sure the community is with me when I say you're a great help)

There’s not really any formal judge training per se, at least for level 1. Some candidates are ready immediately and some need some mentoring to improve in certain skills.

All judge tests are multiple choice with 5 options. The level 1 test is 25 questions and the L2 and L3 tests are 50 questions. The tests are approximately 2/3 rules and 1/3 policy in terms of content.

Is there an age requirement for becoming a judge? I want to be a tier one judge to help out in my friend group but I don't know if I'm able.

A judge needs to be able to handle the responsibility that running an event entails. That has more to do with maturity than with age, though, so it’s something best left up to the judge who would be certifying you locally.

The only specific numbers I can cite is that if you’re of an age where you need a parent’s permission to have a DCI number (under 13, I think?), you would also need their permission to become a judge.

Alright, if I draw with an instant and the end of a discard step, do I still have more than 7 cards in hand at the beginning of the next upkeep?

There’s no way to avoid discarding down to maximum hand size at the end of your own turn. If you somehow cast a spell or otherwise manage to draw cards in the cleanup step, there will be another cleanup step on the turn and you’ll have to discard to maximum hand size again.

Probably a dumb question about counters. If a creature with a +1/+1 counter gets a -1/-1 counter, would it have both still or would they cancel out? ( Leaving it with no counters at all )

They annihilate each other 1:1 leaving at most one kind of counter.

For example, if a creature has three +1/+1 counters on it, and something puts two -1/-1 counters on it, two +1/+1 counters and two -1/-1 counters are removed from the creature, leaving one +1/+1 counter on it.
