Oh yeah, I’m absolutely aware that the video’s largely just cherrypicking, and that these problems aren’t gonna happen to every/most units. I’m just one that likes to play it safe and wait a while. If there were more games at launch I’d only wait a month or two for the problems to be ironed out for the most part.

or maybe they just oversold the preorder by really far and are having to make more

If you can't get a Lucina at a retail store, you might want to look into importing one/buying from a japanese proxy service. It's pricier than retail, but still probably cheaper than buying from some greaseball on Ebay.
If I’m going to spend more than standard retail price for an amiibo, this is definitely what I’ll do. I’ve never imported anything though, so if anyone knows of any good, trustworthy sites to use, please let me know :)
