Also thanks to @mrfohom and @temp-anonymous (NSFW) and @hfc2x (which isn’t nsfw but tumblr won’t let me ping him because ????) for helping me figure this out.
For some reason, this character in this font alone was being treated as a part of code rather than a font character. This has never happened before with any other font in any other mod. So by defining it as a string rather than a character, now it works.
