The anthology Strange Tales 83 was published with a cover date of April 1961. Besides original material it also had reprinted material from Journey Into Mystery 25. In the original story "From the Black Pit Came... Grogg!", Miklos Kozlov, Colonel Fedor Vorcutsky, and Grogg were introduced created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby.
