In which I have a personal squee :-)

So today I finally get to pick up a) my new set of distance glasses; b) my first ever pair of reading glasses.

Reasons why I am squeeing:

- the new distance glasses are from the men’s section; yay gender euphoria. :-)

- the reading glasses are purple; yay purple. :-)

- if I all goes to plan, I’ll be able to finally read books comfortably for the first time in a couple of years or more, which... *flails happily*. Also sew, which I am not great at but which I’ve missed. Drawing may get easier too.

My first reading intention is to finally finish “Hester”, by Margaret Oliphant (which is AWESOME, and which I’ve been reading in bits but it’s not been comfortable enough for consistency, so it’s taking ages).

After that... omg I have so so many books I want to read. Not least getting back to reading poetry; it’s been far too long.

A Beleaguered City, by Mrs Oliphant

Sorry, this is short, I just don't have a lot to say about this book apparently. It's a 19th century ghost story about dead people kicking all the living people out of their town! I was remarkably charmed. I liked getting the different POV's - there was good characterization work in this book. I also enjoyed that the whole thing was just so different in every respect from what a book on this subject would be like if written today.
