⇕ <—- Leave this in my ask if you want to see an AU where our characters are in a “Honey, we shrunk the kids” scenario ((Have fun, lol.))
With the help of Ratchet, Raf had successfully created his shrinking ray. It was like a comic book come to life!
Unfortunately, this shrinking ray still had some kinks to it. Like...exploding everything it had come into contact with. Both the medic and the hacker were working out a solution, but in the meantime, Raf decided to take a break and go deeper into the base to play with the cats that so often eluded him now.
As he was doing so, Elita came in, idly sipping a cube of Energon as she looked over a data pad. The main hangar offered solace to her, especially when the base was mostly empty. It was much less cramped than her quarters.
Unfortunately, it was also where the prototype shrink ray was being kept.
As the femme commander sipped, a small drop of Energon leaked from the corner of the cube and dropped far below, landing on the shrink ray. The machine absorbed the liquid, whirring to life in a small whine, and powered up.
When Elita looked up, she barely had time to register what was happening before she saw a bright flash.
After the brightness subsided, the femme felt very light-helmed. When the spots cleared, she realized everything was much bigger than before. She looked over her frame with wide optics, letting out a high-pitched scream of surprise. This...was definitely not good.
Raf's return to the main hangar came almost an hour later. Elita remained pacing on the floor, barely an inch high now, and attempted to get his attention. The boy almost returned to the calculations at his computer before he felt something very off about the main hangar. Elita had to jump out of the way to avoid being crushed as he investigated.
Not only had the femme been shrunk, but the main computer console in the hangar had also been targeted by the blast.
"Was this..." Raf trailed off, his eyes returning to the shrink ray, "The shrink ray!"
This time, feeling more daring, Elita latched onto the boy's pant leg as he scrambled over to examine the machine. She clung for dear life and began to climb, hoping to get his attention before it was too late.
He ran over every orifice, tapping, poking, and examining, until finally he found the residual Energon around the laser's beam emission point. "Energon...I wonder..." he mused aloud before rushing up to his computer. He didn't make it far before he felt a harsh tug by his ear.
"Raf, can you hear me?" Elita's voice was tiny and high-pitched, but Raf heard it in her close proximity to his ear.
"E-Elita?" his eyes widened.
"Yes. I was caught in the beam when the machine fired. You have to reverse it!"
"I-I know! What did you do?!"
"I'm not sure, but I believe it's related to the Energon I was drinking as I walked into the main hangar."
"That's it!" Raf, now a little amused by the role reversal, offered his hand to Elita and set her on the miniaturized computer monitors, "I can fix this. Stay right there!"
Elita stood, unsure what else to do, as Raf fired up his calculations.
"It's just like the Decepticon space bridge. We have to reverse the polarity, and there should be enough Energon left over to return you to normal height. Since we're not transporting anything, the reversed polarity won't switch enough energy to cause it to explode."
He finished typing, finger hovering over the enter button, "I hope this works..."
In another bright flash, the femme and the computers were back to normal.
"Thank you, Rafael. I believe that experience is something I do not want to repeat again," Elita said with a small smile.
Raf turned sheepish, "S-Sorry..."
