The Catrescue shelter located in Brussels, Belgium does not receive any public/government money and depends only on supporters' donations. In 2013, the small Catrescue shelter rescued more than 500 kittens and cats, no matter their age, color or health. Catrescue is achieving great results thanks to a dynamic network of foster moms (and dads!), donating their time, energy and space. Last year, I raised 175$. I hope to do better this year! You can check the shelter's website and/or Facebook page, both in French, but with tons of pictures! Facebook "Les amis de Catrescue" www.catrescue.be

mrsjonie replied to your post: So this is how many posts I’ve made in...
I was going to post this privately, but decided to do it here, because it's going to be a fairly lengthy post...and I can be a bit of a windbag sometimes.
Preface: I've been told that washing cloth diapers in this wasn't a good plan. We don't cloth diaper, so it doesn't really apply to me, but I wanted to shout it out to you folks.
Preface Also: Please don't buy the products in the links, they are for reference only. I want you to be able to have a picture to go with what you're looking for when you're at the grocery store / Wal-Mart / Target / etc. They're available for less than half the price at your local stores.
Okay, onward.
Ingredients: Fels-Naptha (Or any other sort of clean and pure soap) Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda Borax Water
You're also going to need a kettle of some sort, a long handled spoon, a box grater/some sort of cheese grater, a 5 gallon bucket or something similar (We use an old cleaned out cat box, the bottom half works perfectly if you line it with a clean garbage bag), probably a funnel and something like a ladle.
Getting started:
Put about a quart or two of water into your kettle / sauce pan, whatever you're going to use and get the water to a rapid boil.
Take the Soap of your choice and grate it into little bits. While it's not 110% required, it makes it go much faster than trying to dissolve the whole bar at once.
Once you've got your little bits, stir them slowly into the boiling water. You don't want to dump the whole thing in there, or it'll take foreeeeever. Just do a little at a time, until the soap is mostly dissolved, then add some more. You're making soap-water, basically. It'll look like thick water, sort of yellowish.
Next you're going to add 4 gallons of warm water to your 5 gallon bucket. Then take your long handled spoon, and slowly stir in 1 Cup of Super Washing Soda, and 1/2 Cup of Borax. I've read that the Borax is harsh, but Ce has allergies and issues with everything that's not Free & Clear, and she hasn't had any problems with this, so I'm dismissing the worry about Borax for us. We're not using that much, so it shouldn't cause any problems.
Then pour the melted soap water in, stir well. If you'd like, you can add a bit more water to get the bucket close to full, just leave a bit of room for stirring later. I use about 4 1/2 gallons in my loads. You're going to cover it and let the whole mixture set for 24 hours.
When you come back to it, you'll most likely have a bucket of slime with a bit of water on top. Mine is normally hardened slightly. Take your spoon out again and stir the hell out of it. Make sure that those chunks are small enough that they'll be disbursed properly through the mixture.
Then portion it into the containers of your choice. My son drinks a lot of juice, so we have empty juice containers that we wash out and refill with things like this. This is where the funnel comes in handy. Because the soap is sort of chunky and gloopy, the funnel helps a lot getting it into the containers. I usually use a big ladle to pour.
Anyhow, use between 1/2 cup and 1 cup per load of wash, depending upon how hard your water is. More for hard water. Try to wash your loads in warm if you can, it helps melt the soap down a bit more.
Afterword:
Is it cheaper? Oh yes. Well, yes, more or less. The only bad part is that you need to buy the two boxes. The Fels Naptha runs me about a dollar per bar, and I think that the Borax and Super Washing Soda came to 7 dollars total. The Naptha is good for 1 batch of soap, whereas the other two will last for several. I'm not even half way through either of the big boxes and I've made 3-4 batches of soap already. (That's 15-20 gallons of washing liquid that I've made for ~10 dollars)
Any questions, feel free to ask.

natural bee honey and tea!! It will help a lot for the interview
Yes, I think drowning myself in tea is actually a rather good idea. And sleep. Keep your fingers crossed for me okay, so I don't make a fool out of myself by looking like the whole zombie apocalypse in one person... ;____;
