ive been holding onto this one for too long just using it as a way to play with chalk brushes, but i think it's finally time i let it go

this one was so interesting! i associate this song very heavily with her father, and i had never thought about it in any context with her before. it's still His Song in my mind because it just is every aspect of his character boiled down to song form. but! it fits my in the sense that she used to be a lot more like him. it's a version of herself that she left behind when she was exiled. not one that she'd necessarily want to be again, because she wouldn't want that anger, but one she wishes the world had been a bit nicer to even though she knows that means she wouldn't be who she is today.

i realized after i had started the drawing that it also ties in something her mentor/den mother once said to her: she has a tendency to sit and let life happen around her while she just watches and weathers the storm, so she can seem very unchanging (and tbh she has changed very little in the past 80 years just because she found peace and what life meant to her long ago), but that she's like a rock in a river. if she sits still, she'll just be worn down.
