Okay, so this was surprisingly not #krystalynn… What I think made the Maddie/Krys relationship my favourite was the innocence of it. A mother-child connection goes far deeper than a father-child and something as pure as that is not recreated very easily. I didn’t think it could be done, since Krys had watched her real one disintegrate so easily at such a young age. How could she ever trust in that type of relationship again? Then Ashley dazzled her way into Krys’s plotter with a Whovian gif and proposed Maddie, and we’ve never looked back. Ashley honestly created a gem with Maddie. She writes Maddie so well that you get exactly what you need to understand her in the moment and it compels you to read more and more and more. Having a pseudo-mother/daughter relationship grow from nothing was a truly beautiful thing to watch unfold. Krys being Krys, was annoying cautious of the strange motherly woman trying to get to know her, and Maddie being Maddie, was just the right amount of intrigued by Flynn’s midget friend. And because of it, Krys is slowly getting back a piece of her life that she thought she’d lost for good.
