MATEXCEPTIONAL: A misceverse specific term for any individual who feels their m-spec identity is related to ties to a specific mate. This could be anyone who generally identifies as singularly oriented with the exception of a specific person or persons they view as their mate(s).
Comes from the words Mate (referring to a partner, in this context in an animal sense of the word), and Exceptional (referring to the exception of a rule, in this context as the exception to one’s sexuality.)
This can also be used by anyone who identifies with nonhuman terms, ie alter human, therians, furries, or just anyone who feels mate best describes their romantic feelings.
MATEXCEPTIONAL GAY: An mspec gay individual who despite being typically gay, feels attraction to a non-male individual or individuals they consider to be their mate/mates.
MATEXCEPTIONAL LESBIAN: An mspec lesbian individual who despite being typically lesbian, feels attraction to a non-female individual or individuals they consider to be their mate/mates.
