When I was a kid I wanted to be a teacher because I loved learning and wanted to pass that on to other people. I ended up becoming a teacher and spent the entirety of last year teaching an amazing group of kids and working with amazing people.
When I was 15-20 something I wanted to be an archaeologist but gave up on it because I couldn’t study it at my local uni and I had no way to move to another state/country to study it so I went back to wanting to be a teacher.
There was a period of time when i read His Dark Materials for the first time and when I watched Stargate that I wanted to go into astrophysics/science and work with space.
I’m 24. I’m not currently working because I haven’t picked up another contract and haven’t had any luck getting a job/interview.
I have spent my entire life with a love of Ancient Egypt. I want to visit Egypt, I want to learn as much as I can about ancient Egypt, I have books and a scarb beetle I wear around my neck almost every day because its my lucky charm.
I’ve started watching Stargate again and its reignited my love of ancient Egypt and its gods and mythology. I’ve found some online units that I can take. I can do a masters in ancient history and then a PhD with research into Egypt and its all I’ve ever wanted. I found out about sigining up today and have started the process. I’m scared of going back to uni for maybe another 6 years... I’ll be 30 when I finish. I spent years thinking I couldn’t do it, people telling me that I could do nothing with that degree so whats the point? And now I’m free of all that and I finally feel like I can do what I want and go for my dream.
I’m excited to see where this takes me. To maybe spend my life as Dr and an academic, teaching at universities would be a goal of mine.
I’ve told a couple of other people this but no many. No one I know IRL knows me here so I feel more comfortable speaking into existence here first because no one is gonna judge me!
so with that, by the time I’m 35 (max) I’m going to be Dr. *insert last name here* and I’m going to go to Egypt and see the pyramids.
