Dorhan, careful not to burn himself with his torch, ducks behind a corner of a stone wall in a fortress, narrowly dodging two crossbow bolts that fly into a nearby wall. His ally a small goblin in a cloak also rushes behind the corner, a couple more crossbow bolts following him.
“Turn off torch!” Golnak shouts at him, “You will get us captured gnolls, or worse!”
“We are thousands of feet deep in a cave, I cannot see without this torch.” Dorhan responds calmly.
“The gods give you the power to destroy evil but you can’t see without the sun!” Golnak shouts back
Before Dorhan gets a response, a half elf in red robes with substantially mire crossbow bolts in him than usually appears from a spontaneous mist next to Dorhan. His other ally Veir
“I agree with Golnak, lose the torch or we’re all getting smoked.”
“Not all of us have darkvision, okay!”
“I understand that,” Veir replies, “but maybe you shout sit this one ou—“
At this point, a large gnoll, its teeth barred runs around the corner, as Dorhan promptly swings his sword, now growing with a bright light at the gnoll beheading it.
“The torch stays.” He says calmly, as Golnak pokes the remains of the gnoll with a stick, “You two behind me, lets finish off the rest of these beasts.”
“Okay, okay” Vier replies defeatedly.
