So, I’ve been thinking about sharing this more publicly for a while now; but with the first draft of the Brackets system releasing, I figure now’s probably the best time.

A few months ago, frustrated with the lack of useful Rule Zero tools for Commander power level discussion, I decided I should create a metric I could hopefully use with my own playgroup. The first step was to make sure everything wasn’t a Seven - to this end, I made everything sub-precon in power level a 1, and excluded CEDH entirely. But, a quippy umber with no context isn’t super helpful, especially when there’s room for subjectivity. So, I decided to include a focus on the qualities within a deck, to create a sort of ‘bio’ system that can quickly and effectively introduce a new list to your table.

I hope that this system might help some people, or at the very least give some ideas that can spawn new ways to improve Rule Zero for casual commander.

Had to resist the urge to smack the daylights out of our local bad actor power gamer.

Bragging about how he could break the bracket system and still play egregious decks at a 1. Doesn't care that it could destroy a community doing that, and I've made him aware of the consequences if he ever tries that shit.

For context, he runs a Grand Arbiter Augustin full stax deck, with mass land destruction. He also complained that because Mana Crypt and Jewelled Lotus got banned, his deck was at a disadvantage.

I asked him if he was talking about competitive and he responds "no in casual too."
