Aetherdrift: Brightglass Gearhulk

Among the vehicles, mounts, racers, and monstrous creatures of Aetherdrift, there are some works of artifice designed for other purposes. The Brightglass Gearhulk is the first of a new five-card cycle, which mimics the Gearhulks from the original Kaladesh set. I never got around to making those, but maybe I'll give them a shot once this cycle is finished.

Aetherdrift: Basri, Tomorrow's Champion

Ah, Basri Ket. Quickly introduced as a new, self-sacrificial planeswalker, and then just as quickly de-sparked in Magic: the Gathering's latest big story event. Hailing from Amonkhet, MtG's Egyptian-inspired setting, he made a surprising return in Aetherdrift as the co-captain of the all-chariot Amonkheti racing team. Described by the story as charismatic, dedicated, and wise, he's still got a lot of potential as a character. The wisdom of bringing nothing but chariots to a race full of flying motorcycles and Mad Max-style battle platforms though...

While Basri Ket might be the first de-sparked planeswalker I've brought to play in 5th Edition tables, there are several others also taking part in the race. Captain Howler, Sea Scourge

Another two-page spread today, with another team captain from the Ghirapur Grand Prix. This time it's Captain Howler, leader of the Keelhaulers, a pirate-crew-turned-racing-team who's preferred vehicles are flying, rocket-powered pirate ships. Howler himself is the toughest member of the crew, their undisputed leader-- if only because he's eaten everyone else who challenged him.

Caelorna, Coral Tyrant

A special, two-page spread for Caelorna the Coral Tyrant, the first in a cycle of five legendary vanilla creatures from Aetherdrift. Although she might not be on the team list, Caelorna is still eager to participate in the Grand Prix! In her case though, she's just eager to see what all those strange little metal boxes taste like.

Aetherdrift: Brightfield Glider

Not every team in this multiversal Grand Prix is bringing rocket-engines and aethercycles to the race-- there's also the Quickbeasts, a series of giant, super-fast, magical creatures. In choosing to pit muscle against steel, the Quickbeasts benefit from a lot of versatility, with mounts that resemble everything from jaguars to sugar gliders!

Aetherdrift: Boommobile

A new vehicle from Aetherdrift, last year's racing-themed MtG set. This one belongs to the Goblin Rocketeers, one of ten teams participating in the Grand Prix. These goblin speedsters worship a deity of ultimate adrenaline, the BOOSTGOD, and in its name they work to break the velocity barrier that they believe surrounds the multiverse. The best way to do that? Strapping massive metal rockets onto rickety wooden cars, of course!

MtG Aetherdrift: Apocalypse Runner

A new week means new 5e conversions from Aetherdrift, including our next vehicle of the set! This time we've got the Apocalypse Runner, a war machine built and driven by the Mad Max-inspired Endrunners, one of the ten teams participating in the Grand Prix. This is the first vehicle that holds more than one person, and includes things like crew weapons, rules for hanging off the side, and everything else you need for a post-apocalyptic wasteland car-fight.

If you enjoy this vehicle though, there are plenty more coming.
