Greed by Izzy Medrano
Inktober 2017:
Day 1
True Name Nemesis First day and I already broke my predetermined theme. The plan was to design some scribbles for unloved/underutilized tokens, however I felt like doing some fan art. Today is Zack Stella’s birthday, so after sending him a nightmarish image on twitter, I wanted to draw something nice. A nice and surly True Name Nemesis is a wonderful gift for all.
Tomorrow, I hope to start doing tokens, though maybe I’ll continue fan art inkings of characters from artist I admire. I’m a mad man and I do what I want!
Widespread Panic by Dave Kendall
Day one of @maddie_thegatherer 's #EDHPhotoADay. Jeleva was my first commander, and I played the Mind Seize #mtgc13 deck as-is for maybe 2 weeks before turning it into a mill/kill deck. It's a grind trying to mill 99 cards, but so satisfying to pull off. . . . #mtg #mtgedh #Grixis #JelevaNephaliasScourge #MillThePlanet #DoYouEvenSummonBro
My review of the Esper Commander 2013 deck.
Match in italics, review in bold at the bottom.
First off, my opponent was my brother, playing Prossh, the Jund deck
My game starts off well. I keep a hand of a Jwar Isle Refuge, 2 plains, Disciple of Griselbrand, and Nevinyrral's Disk. Brother has the play, and just plays a mountain. It shifts to me, and I proceed to gain 2 life, and another 1 for playing the Refuge. I drew a Greed, which, later on, helps a lot. Turn 2, I played the Disciple, and got some more life.
Etc.
Much later down the line, I'm sitting at what I like to think is comfortable at 63 life, with a Sharding Sphinx, a thopter, and Kongming.
Brother has a Darksteel mutated Prossh (thank you heart of the cards), an Endless Cockroaches, and a Fell Sheppard.
It might look grim, but he's much lower, at 16. He ends up getting Endrek Sar, and a buttload of Thrulls to wipe my field.
Somehow, I end up getting him down to 8, and have him on a clock, but I notice if he pays attention, he can swing for lethal. I crack the disk that's remained on my field this long.
All this tension just to tell you I lost. I drew a buckets of lands.
I had fun though. I need to update the list with better (to me) cards. I'm leaning more "away from artifacts" and more into the card draw/life gain area.
Already have a Felidar Sovereign on my desk just for this deck.
If you can pick this one up in a store, I fully recommend it. Especially since it's just as much derpy life gain combos as it is punching with dudes.
Final verdict: 9/10 Would bang and call again.
We'll be taking a look at the new Commander products one by one. First up is the Grixis deck. What are your thoughts on Mind Seize?
