I didn't realize we were getting so close to the end. I love this story. So glad Oz didn't get what he so very much thought he owned. Sad to see Marcos fate.
So glad you loved the story. Sorry if the ending snuck up on you!Ā
Oz got what he deserved even though there are some readers who think I went too easy on him..., but yeah I was sad about Marco, too.Ā

I'm so happy they're free!!! I've been so disappointed by all the near-escapes June had that I was almost expecting this to go the same way. But freedom, yay!
Right?! I mean, I know they have to keep her in Gilead in order to keep the show going, but COME ON!! And donāt get me started on Nick. Where is my boy Nick?!?!
Anyhoo... Thank you for following along on the journey! Now I just need to hatch an escape plan in wmoof, lol!
Quick snippet from the fifth and final chapter of May the Lord Open, which will be updating later this week!
āOfarthur, I shall be by tomorrow after lunch to collect you and escort you to your new posting.ā
āTomorrow?ā Emmaās face drained of color and her heart hammered in her chest.
āYes, dear,ā the Aunt replied short-temperedly. āCommander and Mrs. Oz are looking forward to having you as a part of their household and I know you will perform your duties with the same level of excellence as you have here. Wonāt you?ā
āYes, Aunt Cora,ā Emma said in a quiet and strained tone. The woman gave her a forced smile then turned to head out the door with the other Handmaids in tow.
Emma rushed into the parlor and quickly closed the pocket doors behind her while trying to keep her breathing even. Killian. She needed Killian. They had to leave. Now. They could grab the baby, take the car, and head for the border. They had to go. Had to get out. Before she was handed over to Oz andā¦
Okay, so itās a few more than six sentences... sue me.
I posted the sneak peeks for the two Dark Hook ones here. Hope you enjoy them along with these...
We Make Our Own Fate - Chapter 9:
The coals of the forge smoldered in warm hues spectruming from red to orange in the cooler zones and bright yellows to white in the hotter. Emma tugged on the chord that engaged the bellows and forced air into the embers as she pulled her eyes away from the heating metal and cast them over her shoulder.
In the days Killian had been gone, Emma had been on constant guard. First from Neal, who lurked and lingered about with his predatory sights set on her during all hours of the day, and second, with increasing vigilance while she strained for any further sounds of whistling outside the community walls. She hadnāt mentioned the whistling to anyone as of yet. The only person she could really confide in was Robin, but she didnāt feel right in telling him the full story before she had a chance to reveal it to Killian first.
Grabbing her tongs, she removed the glowing billet from the fire and laid it atop her anvil. With hammer in hand she struck the metal, sending sparks flying as she pounded her frustrations and worries into the steel. She wasnāt sure how many more days she could endure the constant anxiety. The looking over her shoulder and startling at every sound that whispered through the trees. How many more nights would she have to fortify the door of the cabin in order to ensure Neal could not enter while she slept?Ā
How much longer before Killian returned so she could tell him she wanted to be with him, now and after they escaped this wretched place?
May the Lord Open - Chapter 4:Ā
Killian practically sprinted up the back steps to the main house, eagerness thrumming through every nerve ending in his body. The Commander and Mrs. Pendragon were attending an official Republic Dinner, one he assumed heād have to stay for, in order to guard over the assembly of District Commanders and their wives. When the Guardian in charge had finished assigning duties and realized he had a surplus, heād dismissed those whoād remained to go back to their normal posts and await the call to come back and collect their Commanders. With the Commander, Mrs. Pendragon, and Felix (who had been tasked to stay) away for the entirety of the evening, this would be Killianās first chance to spend time with his daughter. To hold his little girl in his arms and introduce himself to her as her father.
When he reached the nursery, he was not at all surprised to see Emma already inside with a pink blanketed bundle in her arms. Her gaze lifted from their daughterās face to his; a question resided between her brows even as a smile spread over her lips.
āThey didnāt need me,ā he explained softly, rooted where he stood just inside the doorway, wanting to cement this moment into his memory.Ā
āWell, donāt just stand there,ā Grannyās gruff voice admonished from where she appeared next to him. āGo meet your daughter.ā
Will you be updating May the Lord Open soo? No rush, just wondering. :)
Hey, Nonny!
Thank you for asking about MtLO. I feel awful that it is taking me so long with the update, considering I how I left the last chapter.Ā
I wish I had good news for you, but the truth is... Iām no where near having an update ready. My writing time has been drastically reduced since we started back at school two weeks ago. Any free time Iāve had has been devoted to othersā works I agreed to betaĀ or doing art for cssns fics (which has been great as it allows me to at least stay plugged in creatively).
I am hoping to carve out some time next week to get back to the chapter in earnest. My goal is to have the next update ready to post by the end of the month, but Iām afraid I canāt promise it.Ā
Sorry I donāt have better news, Nonny. I really appreciate you checking in, though. Knowing that I have readers eager for the next update helps to motivate the muse ;o)
Killian entered his small apartment above the garage, thankful that Wendy, his wife, was occupied in the main house with preparations for the next dayās arrival.
They were coming home.
Emma and their daughter were returning from the hospital the next morning, and Killian was beside himself.
He hadnāt seen either of them since that terrible night five days prior when heād found Emma bleeding from labor complications in the back garden. Had yet to clap eyes on his daughter and had to learn the news that Emma had delivered them a little girl in a room full of Commanders and their wives whoād come to offer support to the Pendragons in their time of crisis. A crisis that had turned into a celebration when it was announced the baby had been delivered alive and healthy.
