I've heard that they're gonna kill MTV by the end of '25. So sad. I bring a little piece of my personal memories here which I won't forget... MTV was my religious kinda thing. Non-stop playing TV channel, since my tough puberty hit me.

Weirdly accurate and very Mtv 80s playlist taken directly from what is playing at the car dealership while I wait for an emissions inspection
The Conga - Gloria Estefan
Love Shack - The B-52s
Raspberry Beret - Prince
Tell Her About It - Billy Joel
Come Go With Me - Exposé
Sunglasses at Night - Cory Hart
Relax - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Dancing on the Ceiling - Lionel Richie
Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
So Emotional - Whitney Houston
Small Town - John Cougar Mellencamp
I’ll Tumble 4 Ya - Culture Club
Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper
Any Way You Want It - Journey
At which point the inspection guy had gotten back from lunch and checked out my car.
This playlist does not constitute a continuing enjoyment of any of these songs. But I jammed to pretty much all of them when they came out. Too many of them just bring back bad memories now. I just couldn’t get over the way they were playing the one (or one of a few) big song by every artist.

Reminiscing about growing up with early MTV......it was fun before the reality.

Exciting announcement of some summer fun we have coming up! St. Louis’ very own Dave Holmes will be joining us for a live event on Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m. and we want you to be in the audience for it!
You may remember Dave the runner-up on MTV’s first “Wanna Be a VJ” contest in 1998. In the years after the contest, Holmes went on to be a regular MTV host. He’s now an at-large writer for Esquire in Los Angeles and has written a book called “Party of One: A Memoir in 21 Songs.”
And we’re talking to him! On July 11! You should come! Information here.
