13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
(G1) Galvatron is a minefield as far as I can tell - on the one hand you have fans and fancontent seeing him as nothing but an abusive asshole with no redeeming qualities.
And on the other hand you have the people who call the writing and fans writing Galvatron as nothing but an abusive asshole ableism - he does have processor-damage that is highly hinted at to be the cause of his violent behaviour afterall.
And I agree that some fanworks portray Galvatron as nothing but an abusive asshole and it irks me too.
But I also find fanwork that removes everything “bad” about Galvatron and portrays him as a innocent fluffball to be disingenious as well, I don’t enjoy those either.
I love Galvatron, exactly the way he is written - not despite his issues, but because of them.
It is friggin entertaining and I also relate to a character yelling a lot, having a bad temper, being impulsive and easily agitated, I’m like that too! The only difference being that I am not angry 24/7 and make an effort to not become angry in the first place.
And when people remove those aspects it feels a little bad man, like the traits I have that I see in Galvatron are too bad and shouldn’t exist. As if I don’t already feel bad because of my temper.
I honest to God suffer through similiar anger-related issues as Galvatron does, and I rather see a character like that, like me, in a silly written show, than people saying “his writing is ableist!” and just removing the one thing I relate to.
I don’t care he’s a villain, I just wanna enjoy Galvatron as the intense ball of anger that he is. A Galvatron devoid of his anger and violence is simply not the character I like.
So yeah, that’s my unpopular opinion - I like Galvatron as the shit show he is :D
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
Oh I grew to hate the T/ES fandom here - there were too many takes that boiled down to “if you like/don’t hate XXX aspect of the games, you are a nasty person.”
And if anyone dared to disagree, it was just prove for their take.
Fandom discourse went from civil discussions about I/mperials vs S/tormcloaks with their respective pros and cons to “If you like the S/tormcloaks you are a racist in real life!” and if you say “But I support them because S/tormcloaks have a point.” you’d get “See? A racism-sympathizer!” as a response instead of being listened to.
And you know, I’ve been told to be a nasty person for a few things in my life, for example my religion and my ethnicity. And I’d rather be called nasty for those, because in the very least the people insulting me in that context are honest and don’t pretend they speak for me.
I don’t even like the S/tormcloaks myself! But these bullshit takes were too annoying! You can criticize things in the games without having to accuse a real group of people to be bad! People you don’t even know.
Btw I ended my T/ES time here, still love the franchise, but don’t wanna interact with the fandom anymore.
25. How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX?
Just the ending?
Would change the end of G1 to not include Optimus and let Rodimus be the leader and hero, truly wasn’t a fan of that change.
Would take the oppurtunity to shit on Predacon Rising again, but Megatron living isn’t a problem of the ending, it’s a problem of the entire movie.
