Mystery object.

While helping to clean out my Grandparents office I found this mystery item.

I was curious if anyone on here might know what it is or what it was used for. Found amongst the stationary.

UPDATE: Thank you to all who responded and helped solve this mystery. I've never come across a cord grommet like this, but now that I know what it is, I can put it to good use. ^^ so thank you!

So it’s not something I’ve done before, and isn’t something I’d do unprompted, because I would never remember to do it regularly..

But I’d have no problem doing so if asked to from now on ❤️
